Feeding Instructions

Feed cockatiels 2 - 4 tablespoons daily. Adjust portions for proper weight maintenance and when feeding additional pets. Discard any uneaten food and clean dish before each feeding.

Transition Instructions

When introducing a new food, begin with a mixture of old and new food, gradually increasing the amount of new food over a 7 - 10 day period. This will prevent digestive upsets as well as allow your pet to adjust to something new.

My birds eat a pellet diet, only receiving seed as an occasional treat, but I'm making an exception for an old friend who's starting to show her age. One of my birds is a 26 year old Quaker Parakeet. She's showing less interest in treats she used to enjoy (but still loves pizza!), so I got this seed mix for her to feed in addition to her pellets and other treats, hoping to perk her interest a bit. I like this mix because it doesn’t have overly large pieces, or four variations of corn as some of the others do. There’s a good variety of seeds and different colored small pieces of pellet. So far, the only drawback I’ve found was when I went to cut the bag open. My cats heard the bag crinkle My birds eat a pellet diet, only receiving seed as an occasional treat, but I'm making an exception for an old friend who's starting to show her age. They ganged up under my feet and tried to trip me till I caved in and gave them a treat too...the fuzzy little tyrants! LOL … more

  • A disappointment

Kaytee eliminated their Forti-Diet Pro Health with Safflower seeds, so I was left with this version as my only choice. I have never fed my birds sunflower seed, as they are not good for the smaller birds--too fatty. This food has tons of sunflower seeds in it. It is obvious that Kaytee is using it for a filler, to save money. There are more sunflower seeds than anything else. It's very difficult to switch an older bird's food, but I may try, because I don't see much health benefit in this blend.

This was shipped with two big holes in it. It was a huge mess to clean up. Please make sure bird seed bags are not ripped.

This bird food, like many, has a lot of millet. None of my birds really like that so I have to buy some sunflower and safflower seeds to mix with this. Okay price for what it is, though.

There was a hole in the bag and about a pound of seed was loose in the shipping box.
