How much food do I put down each day for two adult Guinea Pigs? Mine have been getting too fat and I don't know the correct amount to feed them.
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2021
Guinea Pigs should always have hay available in a hopper, bin, or on the bottom of their cage and will graze on it as they need; keep a half cup of hay always available, and replace it daily to keep it fresh. If your guinea pig is gaining weight, make sure that you’re feeding the correct amount of pelleted food (1/8th cup once daily, per guinea pig) and only providing a treat once daily.

Is this food good for baby rabbits?
Answer by ChewyNov 26, 2018
Like adults, hay should play an important role in young rabbit's diet. Grass hay (e.g. meadow or timothy) is the one food you should introduce from the start, even if your rabbit isn't already eating it. This is the gentlest food on the gut and will provide the fibre needed for the digestive process to function.

Is this brand safe for my Guinea Pig ? I am giving it oxbow Timothy hay I am trying to save a little money since Oxbow is little bit more expensive
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2017
This product is safe for Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Chinchilla and Degu.

About how long does the larger bag last for one guinea pig?
Answer by ChewyAug 23, 2018
There's no exact feeding amount of hay your small animal needs, the length of time it'll last will vary. You can provide hay at all times.

Inconsistent Quality

I have purchased a lot of this item and will no longer be purchasing. I keep getting bags of dust. This is extremely expensive for a bag of hay dust that my rabbits and chinchillas will not eat. This company (Kaytee) needs to put on the package what type of hay you will be getting, i.e. long cut or a bag of dust. I will be going to the store so I can see what I am getting in person from now on.

stringy hard hay

It used to be good. My guinea pigs no longer like it. Too hard and stringy, no "flowers". They dig through it and throw it down from their racks. I have to refill it once to twice a day... Very disappointing.

Bunny loves it

My Dutch rabbit loves a healthy helping of this Timothy hay daily. She loves chewing it and it's great for her teeth. I'm glad it comes in pretty large sizes, we go through it quickly!

Unexpected

I have bought several bags of Timothy Hay for my Guinea pig. Never had a problem until the most recent purchase. I gave him several handfuls of hay and noticed the next day there was a headless dead bird in his habitat. I grew up in the country, so I imagine it happened during the cutting of the hay. I now have to inspect all the hay I give him. I also realize this is not the fault of chewy. That’s why I still give it 4 stars.

Hay is way drier than it used to be

Very dry hay. We have used this brand for a couple years now. It used to always been green, soft hay. Now its long stringy and very dry compared to what our bun was used to. She refuses to eat it now. The consistency is like straw for bedding. Currently looking for a better, soft and green option

very dry

I used to get this hay all the time, my last order of 2 bags was so very dry. My guinea pigs want nothing to do with it. Very dissatisfied

The best!

The best quality and consistency between hay brands. It’s been recommended by each vet we’ve been to and the rabbits seem to like it the most. It’s not as dusty as some of the other brands either

Not Satisfied!!!!!!! DUST and 1/2 pieces!

Today thought I'd go ahead & throw away all the hay in bunny's hay bed. Still had longer pieces, but half was about inch or shorter which she doesn't like. I emptied the hay box. Then opened new bag. I'm so upset more I pulled out. Mostly dust tiny pieces of hay, I'd NEVER buy her. Afraid dust will make her sick, also makes a mess all over my house. She never does but it sticks to her & hard to get out of her hair! Chewy get rid, if they can't put hay in these bags. I expected better but got junk. I have to go buy a bag today! What a mess. I threw good hay away before checking new bag! Never again! Junk!

Quality seems to vary.

Not sure why but sometimes this Timothy Hay is great and sometimes there's a lot of powder. Not sure if it's a late cutting or if it's getting beat up in the warehouse. Maybe the guys are playing floor hockey with it. It's not expired so I can't blame it on that. But it does vary in quality.
