    Check it carefully before using

    By on

18 months ago I bought a giant size wheel for my kids' pet rats, and overall it is a good buy for the price. One of the hooks was bent too tight to hang from the cage sidebar, but I fixed that with pliers. The elongated base forced me to hang it higher off the ground than I would have liked. Occasionally it starts to squeak, but a little oil or shortening solves that problem. IMPORTANT: check the edges for anything sharp. It is easy to clip or file down if you find anything, but even a tiny burr can create a wound that your vet cannot fix. (Written from sad experience, but still using the wheel after removing the sharp spot.)

    Nice wheel

    By on Top 500 Contributor

This is a decent wheel a little flimsy. And larger then what I would find acceptable for what I have. I have 2 gerbils. I went by the sizing chart which said this was the appropriate size for them but it seems WAY bigger then what i needed. I have a Crittertrail cage and it makes the cage alittle snug so I will probably replace it later for a smaller one but it will be okay for now.

    Would NOT Recommend!

    By on

I myself haven’t bought this wheel, but due to experience I would not recommend this wheel. The little holes in the wire wheel are bad for all small animals. If there paws/legs slip through the holes while they are still running, they can easily break their legs. While it is the cheaper option, at the end of the day it really isn’t because of the vet bill/bills.

    Buy a plastic one instead

    By on

I thought the wired wheel would work well for my dwarf hamster. But when it came, it was slightly dented, so the wheel balance is off now. The wheel its self squeaks A LOT. I would recommend a plastic wheel instead, probably better quality.

Little Bit of Vegetable Oil Fixes It

    By on

This wheel squeaks, but I had to buy a metal one because my demon hamster, Beezelbub, ate the silent spinner I bought her. I put a little vegetable oil on the insert parts and its as quiet as it can get, other than that the wheel works fine, and if your hamster eats everything it, its great.

    Good for parakeets

    By on

I have two baby parakeets that are almost 3 months old. They love this wheel! They like to seesaw up and down until they can get it to spin and then they hang on as it spins around and around. I am watching them right now take turns playing a new game I have never seen them play before

    It works like it should

    By on Top 50 Contributor

So I typically do not use these wheels because I don't like the wire. But I have a fat mouse who injured her back flying off the silent spinner wheel. This one was recommended by my vet because it is wider and she can grab onto the wire.

    It’s...okay

    By on

I didn’t get to choose the color I wanted for my hamster, but it’s a great size for my teddy bear hamster. It’s very loud when he’s in it, I’ve tried placing it in different areas of his cage but it’s still annoyingly loud, but he likes it overall.
