Description

If squirrels keep stealing your bird food from the feeder, feeding Kaytee Safflower Seed Wild Bird Food can help. Safflower seed has a bitter taste, discouraging squirrels from filling their bellies. Cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, grosbeaks and other backyard birds love it, though. The seed’s high oil content makes it a tasty, nutritious treat for your birdie friends.

    Cardinal & Finch Favorite

By sexypotato on Jul 7, 2021

Cardinals and house finches absolutely love it and stop by frequently. The squirrel that was going to town on the blend I had been putting in the feeder now only comes around occasionally, and he never stays long. Usually just has a couple bites and is on his way. Before I started putting out this seed, he would stuff himself multiple times a day.

Not a favorite but still eaten

By CoffeeCat on Apr 6, 2021

Doesn't seem to be the birds' favorite seed to eat, but they still ate it. Mainly blackbirds and a few chickadees ate it up. No squirrels touched it, but we don't usually have trouble with squirrels. Good quality birdseed and at a decent price. Probably won't buy again though just because it didn't seem like they really enjoyed it. I received this item as part of a cashback campaign.

The birds aren't talking to me.

By ThinkingOutLoud on Apr 19, 2021

I cannot provide a review because the birds who would have formed an opinion, are not sharing it with me. They do eat it, but I have no way of knowing if they're settling because it is available, or if they really like it. So, I'm picking 3 stars as neutral.

Your prices are good and I do not have to fight traffic and crowds to buy an overpriced product.

    Good seed, good price

By Cortni on Feb 27, 2021

I have purchased this brand of birdseed many many times and will continue to do so. It is a fair price and appears to be good quality seed. This safflower seed definitely attracts Cardinals. I see many of them in our backyard. It is also appealing because it is made in the USA. I received cash back on this product and am participating in a cashback program. This however, did not affect my personal review.

    Best Safflower Seeds!

By AutumnRain on Apr 28, 2021

A bag of these seeds has a lot fewer twigs and bad seeds than bags from other brands. The price is also good, so I will buy this brand safflower seeds from now on.

    Clean quality seed!

By jbird on Mar 1, 2021

I filled my grandparents’ feeders with this. The quality is excellent and the seed doesn’t attract the squirrels like some other types do. They’re messy, but the birds love it! I would purchase this again. I received CashBack as part of a CashBack campaign in exchange for my honest review.

Good clean quality Safflower for your birds!

By AdrianeN on Feb 2, 2021

I am obsessed with having birds at my house!! I Love this bird food blend! I purchase it in bulk- because it is very cost effective- and it is nice NEVER running out! I have noticed that the variety of birds I get really enjoy the small millet seed in this- as well as the larger Safflower seeds. For these reasons I purchase Kaytee brand! it is wonderful for your bird feeders!!

The Northern Cardinals and Blue Jays like it!

By TimG on Feb 5, 2021

The Northern Cardinals and Blue Jays are very appreciative that I have Safflower seeds for them. Especially in the winter there is not much available for the little birds to eat. The birds go through it rather quickly and seem to like it. The squirrels like it too, but that’s another story.
