Questions & Answers

24 Customer Questions

can this be used for rabbits ? specifically a mini lop
Answer by Chewy • Oct 30, 2018
It's not recommended for rabbits to use a running wheel or ball. Hamsters and gerbils have a much more flexible spine compared to rabbits. A rabbit has a long stride that could not be accommodated by a wheel. It is better to just let a rabbit run around on the ground in a safe area.

How would you take the stand off?
Answer by Chewy • Dec 30, 2017
These legs can be removed by pulling down and away from the wheel. The legs will slide off. This Silent Spinner have the option to attach directly to the side of most wire habitats.

Should I get the giant wheel for my guinea pig???
Answer by Chewy • Sep 08, 2018
It is not recommended for a Guinea pig to use an exercise wheel.

Would the Giant wheel be good for a Gray squirrel?
Answer by Chewy • Mar 20, 2018
The Kaytee Silent Spinner Small Animal Exercise Wheel will most likely be too small for a squirrel.

Definitely not a silent wheel

This wheel is terrible. It's definitely not quiet, and the middle piece keeps coming loose. Really unhappy with this.

Loud and falls?

The wheel came cracked from Chewy - it doesn't seem to structurally affect the wheel, but maybe it does, because my rats managed to run this thing right off the wall every night. No matter how tight I screw it on, the inner yellow screw cap comes off and the wheel falls down. It starts silent but gets progressively louder as it gets loose.

Works great

Replaces an old wire wheel that was hard to keep straight, the boys love their new toy.

NOT for Chinchillas!

Even the giant-sized wheel is not big enough for a grown chinchilla. I recommend the Chin Spin wheel (which you cannot buy on Chewy) for your chinchilla. It is much quieter than this so-called "silent spinner" and it's the proper size (15") for a chinchilla

Get Giant for Rats

Good wheel, but my rats were not interested and now they have outgrown it. The regular size is fine for young rats but definitely size up for bigger rats.

way too small

DONT BUY THE MINI WHEEL!!! it's far to small for a mouse or dwarf hamster! it causes there spine to curve at an unnatural angle and in turn cause heath issues, yes it's quiet but it's not worth the rise of hurting your small animal pet!!

Will not stick together

This wheel came with a crack in the back section, which I could have lived with. However the white "back" of the wheel will not stick together with the colored "front" section. One of the little plastics hooks that is supposed to click in and keep the sections together just doesn't. This creates a small space where the sections are supposed to meet, just where your pet is supposed to run. Will not be using this for our hamster, it just doesn't feel safe. Spend your money on a different product!

Terrible wheel, but makes a good rat toilet

I got the giant one for my three rats. Out of the package, it always seemed a little bit off kilter, making it rather tough to spin so they didn't really get the hang of it. Then only 2 weeks later the plastic part that held the wheel onto the legs snapped. Now, when placed flat on its back and filled with hemp bedding, they love using it as a toilet. It keeps their cage a lot cleaner. Not a complete waste of money, although I could have used a plastic storage container from the dollar store as the toilet, too. But thanks to this completely dysfunctional wheel that I wanted to try and get some value out of, I learned that my rats wanted a toilet.

Having fun!

The baby runs all night and we get to sleep. It's quiet and well made. Keeping him happy
