Just NO.
The only good things I can say about this item are that it’s more sturdy than the chewy brand version and that the metal isn’t exposed. Now onto the bad. . . 1. The wood is peeling off in big chunks 2. There are a ridiculous amount of splinters on every single part of it. Splintered myself just opening it. 3. The dye comes right off and makes me incredibly nervous. 4. Pine can be dangerous to Guinea pigs if not properly prepared. All of the faults in this item lead me to believe that the pine was probably not properly kiln dried. Bought two hideouts from chewy and both are unsafe to put in my pigs enclosure. Ugh.
Great Hideout
Gizmo loves his hideout! He climbs on it and loves taking his naps in there. We went with the medium hideout - it works well now, but we’ll have to upgrade to the large after he’s fully grown.
Nope
I bought this product to be a permanent home for my guinea pigs. Both developed an upper respiratory infection. This is ok for a hide in a play area, but has a chemical smell.
Excellent enrichment
I bought this as an enrichment for one of the hamsters, the chinchilla or my gerbils. The gerbils got it and while it is the big one, I set it up in their enclosure as part of a multilevel hide. They love sitting under it as the evening sun comes slanting through the window into their cage. They also like to eat on top of it. People tend to give these little guys such small stuff but some of the bigger hides can go a long ways in creating interest in their enclosures.
Perfect fit for guinea pig
Very nice, this is roomy enough for one guinea pig to turn around and rest inside, with space left for a chew toy.

It's a 50/50
When I got this it was chipping, and seemed to have a small smell? The bending is nice though, and it was slightly bigger then expected but I'm able to use it which is good
Fun Enrichment
The Guinea Pigs love this item. I flattened it so it acts as a step for them to jump up onto and then onto a higher perch. Lots of fun for my young fellow who runs around a lot. He also likes to chew it, and of course, he hides under it if someone makes a loud scary noise. Like a sneeze.
