What is the difference between a human heating pad and a Pet Bed Warmer?
The Pet Bed Warmer provides a subtle heat and reaches a maximum temperature of 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats. A regular human heating pad will be much too warm and could damage a pet's skin and cause him/her to be afraid of the heat source.
Does the Pet Bed Warmer need to be placed inside a pet bed?
Yes, the Pet Bed Warmer should always be placed inside a pet bed. It should never be used by itself.
How much bedding should be between the Pet Bed Warmer and a pet's body?
There should be at least 1/2 inch of padding between the warmer and a pet's body.
What temperature will a bed reach with the Pet Bed Warmer inside?
The surface of the bed that contains the Pet Bed Warmer will be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F. The surface temperature depends on how much padding is on the pet bed. If there is a lot of padding, it will be cooler. If the padding is thinner, the surface will be warmer.
Could I use the Pet Bed Warmer outdoors if it's covered and out of the snow?
While our Pet Bed Warmer is an excellent product, it is not designed to output enough heat for the cold outdoor temperatures of winter. Rather, it is designed to elevate the temperature of a pet’s bed that is already around room temperature.
Does it matter which side of the Pet Bed Warmer faces up?
For this particular product, it does not matter which side faces up.
Are the bed warmers waterproof?
The Pet Bed Warmer is water-resistant. It can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 5.5 feet long.
Is this warmer pressure sensitive?
The warmer is not pressure sensitive. All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet.K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
How long can a warmer be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the warmer if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards.
Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The warmer is always on when plugged in.
1-Year Limited Warranty.

Snuggle Up
Add a new level of comfort to your pet's sleep time. Just slide the K&H Pet Products Pet Bed Warmer into your dog or cat's bed and plug it in. Your pet will cozy up and rest well as the insulated pad heats up to her body temperature.

Comforting
K&H Pet Products Pet Bed Warmer is designed for indoor use only, and is suited for comfort, so it never gets too hot. Once plugged in, the warmer sits at about 15 degrees above air temperature and then, as your pet slips into slumber, the pad slowly warms to the natural temperature of your cat or dog at a maximum of 102 degrees.
Feeling the Difference
This Bed Warmer delivers added relief for older pets' joints on cold nights, providing warmth and restfulness. Always place inside a pet bed with about ½ inch of padding for ideal use — the more padding, the cooler the surface.

where is the cat?
By 1bigcat on Feb 11, 2021
Bought a small “dog” bed and put the heating pad under the washable cover with the electric cord coming out at the zipper opening. Kitty is in love with his new bed. Watch out you may never see your cat on the couch again! The Small size pad is perfect for my big kitty. It heats up a large area to the perfect temperature. I bought the newer “ gray pad” version ( cost a bit more - strong cover cat mail proof and long cord ) Remember to put a layer of fabric over the pad so it is not too hot.

Bummer of product
By HJenkins on Feb 10, 2021
I understand the whole "you get what you pay for" adage, so for being an inexpensive item, maybe I'm not supposed to be impressed. Then again, I didn't order this item as an act of charity either. I expected it to do the one little job of becoming warm once it's plugged in. The warmth of this pad was so slight that I'm still not sure whether my hand was what was giving it a very fleeting, semi-raised temperature. In short, this product warms absolutely nothing. It might not actually work at all. There's no way to tell if anything is happening. I wouldn't be exaggerating were I to say that grossly blowing warm breath on a cat would give a better result.

KH pet warmers
By 5itties on Jan 31, 2021
Years ago, I had an elderly cat or 2 that wanted to sleep between my legs to stay warm. I was afraid I’d hurt it and got some heated pet beds for bedside tables, etc. I found that all the cats liked them as they aged and bought several more. Good news! They re now less expensive than they used to be and you can purchase with or without a bed. 2-3 cats often sleep and hang out in my bay windows and they are cold spots in the winter. I now have 6 heated beds. They only use 4-7 watts so I leave one or 2 plugged in year round for my older arthritic cat. Also cats with kidney issues have trouble regulating their body temperature. So a must have! Best thing I’ve ever bought for kitties.

Warm things up
By DogsRule on Jan 29, 2021
Our dog Dylan came down with pneumonia and I remembered this warmer from years ago that I thought would be comforting for him - so happy Chewy carried it. The first one came without a box which was strange and it did not work. Customer Service was amazing and supportive as I was anxious to have this warming Dylan's bed. They replaced and shipped us a new one, which was in a box, in about a day with no hassle. Happy Ending for all concerned. Thank you Chewy for making it right and Dylan better.

snow, snow, snow!
By alliegator on Feb 20, 2021
I'm afraid I still haven't received it due to a delay at fedex that prevented delivery to my home until after we received an extra foot of snow! That's too bad because we've had 0 degree temps and the heating pad was for my "prefers barn life to inside life" cat, Mimsy. I've made do with heat lamps so her house is still cozy!

Unfortunate
By SadToSay on Feb 19, 2021
This bed warmer seemed ideal -- my sweet kittie had been diagnosed with a heart murmur, and was cold all of the time. But when I hid the wiring, as directed, I found to my dismay that there was no "on/off" switch! So now I had to "un-hide" the wire every time I wanted to use it. Also, it never got warm enough for my 7-lb cat, so it's not very helpful.

Our sweet senior cat loves this
By jayc on Feb 1, 2021
Our girl The Bandit is 18 years old, and it became apparent a few years ago that she loves sharing a heating pad with us. Or hogging one, if we're being honest. We love this pet-specific heat pad because it works well with a bed & cushion we already had, it heats to the ideal temperature for cats, and it is safe to run 24/7. We bought a second one so our other cat, Hobo, isn't left out.

Keeping kittens and cats alive in the cold of winter
By Mike on Feb 17, 2021
I make winter homes using these. I take a plastic litter container, cut a 4 inch hole in the top, a hole in back to put the plug through. and wrap the warmer in an old towel. When the weather is cold the cats have learned to take shelter in them, sometimes two or more in a individual home.

Warms wonderfully
By Jessie on Feb 19, 2021
This pad is super warm. It's almost too warm but it's great. You will definitely want to make sure this is covered and your pet isn't sitting directly on it because it is too hot for that. I can feel the heat not even 30 minutes of it being plugged in. Very satisfied with it!

Good for managing the annoying coworker.
By Angie on Feb 21, 2021
Do your cats love to climb all over your desk while you're working? Biting your wires, smacking around pens and whatnot? Well, put this somewhere in the corner of your desk and they'll be perfectly content sitting there without being a bother.
