What is the difference between a human heating pad and a Pet Bed Warmer?
The Pet Bed Warmer provides a subtle heat and reaches a maximum temperature of 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats. A regular human heating pad will be much too warm and could damage a pet's skin and cause him/her to be afraid of the heat source.
Does the Pet Bed Warmer need to be placed inside a pet bed?
Yes, the Pet Bed Warmer should always be placed inside a pet bed. It should never be used by itself.
How much bedding should be between the Pet Bed Warmer and a pet's body?
There should be at least 1/2 inch of padding between the warmer and a pet's body.
What temperature will a bed reach with the Pet Bed Warmer inside?
The surface of the bed that contains the Pet Bed Warmer will be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F. The surface temperature depends on how much padding is on the pet bed. If there is a lot of padding, it will be cooler. If the padding is thinner, the surface will be warmer.
Could I use the Pet Bed Warmer outdoors if it's covered and out of the snow?
While our Pet Bed Warmer is an excellent product, it is not designed to output enough heat for the cold outdoor temperatures of winter. Rather, it is designed to elevate the temperature of a pet’s bed that is already around room temperature.
Does it matter which side of the Pet Bed Warmer faces up?
For this particular product, it does not matter which side faces up.
Are the bed warmers waterproof?
The Pet Bed Warmer is water-resistant. It can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 5.5 feet long.
Is this warmer pressure sensitive?
The warmer is not pressure sensitive. All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet.K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
How long can a warmer be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the warmer if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards.
Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The warmer is always on when plugged in.
1-Year Limited Warranty.

Snuggle Up
Add a new level of comfort to your pet's sleep time. Just slide the K&H Pet Products Pet Bed Warmer into your dog or cat's bed and plug it in. Your pet will cozy up and rest well as the insulated pad heats up to her body temperature.

Comforting
K&H Pet Products Pet Bed Warmer is designed for indoor use only, and is suited for comfort, so it never gets too hot. Once plugged in, the warmer sits at about 15 degrees above air temperature and then, as your pet slips into slumber, the pad slowly warms to the natural temperature of your cat or dog at a maximum of 102 degrees.
Feeling the Difference
This Bed Warmer delivers added relief for older pets' joints on cold nights, providing warmth and restfulness. Always place inside a pet bed with about ½ inch of padding for ideal use — the more padding, the cooler the surface.

Great for every age
By June on Apr 15, 2021
This is my 9th? 12th? purchase of a K&H heated bed for my cats. If constantly plugged in, I average a bit over 2 years of life for a bed. I purchased my first bed in the early 2000’s and haven’t been disappointed. My cats love these and argue over which bed they want. (Yes, there are more beds than cats). It has been wonderful for my aged arthritic cats and delightful for the younger ones. We recommend this brand at the cat clinic to our clients, for our patients, as they become arthritic and use it for our house cats and senior boarders as well. I tried another brand once. The store was out of K&H and I needed a bed that day. The bed lasted only a few months. I’m sticking with K&H This is my 9th? 12th? purchase of a K&H heated bed for my cats. You've gotta get one of these!
By Kathy on Apr 15, 2021
I ordered our first one with a washable cover. For this one I covered it myself. My 20 year old cat is extremely arthritic and she loves it. If it's too warm for her whole body she's learned to position part of herself and change positions from time to time. The other cats steal it so got another. The warmth is gentle. Since I work several days a week, I don't feel so guilty for having the heat turned down in the house.

Great for winter
By Toasty on Mar 7, 2021
Bought this after mistakenly buying a hard version of a heating pad from the same company. The hard plastic version didn't appeal to my pup at all so I got this soft warming pad and put it inside his dog bed. It fits his bed perfectly. I will say it's toasty! My pup loves laying on it but in the night he tends to overheat and avoid it by crawling up on the bumpers of his bed and sleeping there. It does not have temperature control which is a bit of a bummer. Probably wonderful for an outdoor dog house. We put a blanket on his bed to create a bit of a barrier from the warmth and he seems to like that. Will probably remove it soon since it's coming on Spring and I think it will be too Bought this after mistakenly buying a hard version of a heating pad from the same company. I don't recommend it if you keep the house warm into the night as your dog will probably find it a bit too warm. We drop our heat lower when we go to sleep. (We have a short haired dog with a thin coat for context). Regardless of the overheating, our pup definitely is more apt to go to his dog bed since getting it, he definitely enjoys the heating pad. … more

It's just what he needed.
By George on Mar 18, 2021
I've never used a pet bed warmer, but with the chilly winter I had noticed a visible change in how comfortable my cat was in his bed on the floor. He started to try to be as small as possible and touch the least amount of the bed, after getting this bed warmer, he's back to his old lazy, laid back self, stretching out in the entirety of the bed and snuggling in. I can just see how happy he is when he's resting. When I place my hand on the bed it's not necessarily warm to the touch, but it adjusts to the body temperature nicely so I know my cat isn't getting too warm.

where is the cat?
By 1bigcat on Feb 12, 2021
Bought a small “dog” bed and put the heating pad under the washable cover with the electric cord coming out at the zipper opening. Kitty is in love with his new bed. Watch out you may never see your cat on the couch again! The Small size pad is perfect for my big kitty. It heats up a large area to the perfect temperature. I bought the newer “ gray pad” version ( cost a bit more - strong cover cat mail proof and long cord ) Remember to put a layer of fabric over the pad so it is not too hot.

Love it.....
By Perfect1 on Feb 26, 2021
This is perfect for my outdoor kitties! Although they do have an outdoor heated house in their cat run, this is an added pad of warmth for them. I am happy to know that should the heat go out in their house, they still have this additional warm bed they sleep on. It is so sweet to go out and see them sleeping on it. They sleep side by side and although one weighs 12 pounds and the other 24 pounds they still love the warmth. I bought an extra warmer while they were on sale just in case one should burn out. Always good to have a backup. They do not get too warm to burn my kitties. They are just the perfect temperature.

Great heating pad!
By LinksMom on Mar 25, 2021
This small warmer was purrfect for putting inside the FurHaven Plush & Velvet Orthopedic Bolster Cat & Dog Bed w/Removable Cover, Smoke Gray, Small. It stays toasty warm but not too hot. Link was never really interested in cat beds before we added this heather, now he spends 4-8 hours in his bed every day instead of on the floor vents.

Ferrell cat loves this bed warmer!
By Barb on Feb 26, 2021
I have a Ferrell cat that is just beginning to come into my breezeway. I put a bed in there but there is no heat and he will not come into the house. I have to leave the breezeway door open because he is scared to be trapped. He absolutely loves his bed now that it is warm. It keeps the bed a little warm, not hot but his heavy fur doesn't require a ton of heat anyway. I am so happy to know he has some source of comforting heat under him while he sleeps.

Bummer of product
By HJenkins on Feb 10, 2021
I understand the whole "you get what you pay for" adage, so for being an inexpensive item, maybe I'm not supposed to be impressed. Then again, I didn't order this item as an act of charity either. I expected it to do the one little job of becoming warm once it's plugged in. The warmth of this pad was so slight that I'm still not sure whether my hand was what was giving it a very fleeting, semi-raised temperature. In short, this product warms absolutely nothing. It might not actually work at all. There's no way to tell if anything is happening. I wouldn't be exaggerating were I to say that grossly blowing warm breath on a cat would give a better result.

KH pet warmers
By 5kittymom on Jan 31, 2021
Years ago, I had an elderly cat or 2 that wanted to sleep between my legs to stay warm. I was afraid I’d hurt it and got some heated pet beds for bedside tables, etc. I found that all the cats liked them as they aged and bought several more. Good news! They re now less expensive than they used to be and you can purchase with or without a bed. 2-3 cats often sleep and hang out in my bay windows and they are cold spots in the winter. I now have 6 heated beds. They only use 4-7 watts so I leave one or 2 plugged in year round for my older arthritic cat. Also cats with kidney issues have trouble regulating their body temperature. So a must have! Best thing I’ve ever bought for kitties.
