Instructions

Operation Instructions

  1. Remove the lid from the pump/filter compartment.
  2. Remove filter from compartment and thoroughly rinse the filter with cool water. This will remove loose charcoal from the filter media.
  3. Thoroughly rinse the entire bowl and pump compartment.
  4. Remove the cap from the water reservoir tank and thoroughly rinse the tank.
  5. Fill the bowl with cool water to about 50% full while lifting the front of the bowl slightly to release air from inside the pump tube.
  6. Fill the bowl the rest of the way. 7.. Slide the filter into its location in the filter/pump compartment, rounded edges toward bottom.
  7. Place the bowl in the desired location.
  8. Plug the bowl into an electrical outlet.
  9. Fill the reservoir tank with water.
  10. Plug the cap hole with the attached no-spill plug. Now screw the plugged cap onto your reservoir tank.
  11. Gently place the filled reservoir tank into the lid of the rear bowl compartment.
  12. The spike will release the auto-fill non spill cap. Your tank will now automatically fill your pet’s bowl for you! Note: if water flow does not start immediately, lift the front edge of the bowl slightly to help release air from pump tube. This will help the pump grab water.

Washing Instructions

  • The bowl can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher.
  • The reservoir should NOT be placed in the dishwasher because the heat will cause it to warp. Please wash the reservoir by hand using the included brush.
FAQ

How often do I need to replace the CleanFlow filter cartridge?

Typically, the filter should be changed every 1-2 months and cleaned weekly. You'll feel the filter starting to break down each time it is cleaned. Please use your judgment and replace the filter when it becomes soft.

My CleanFlow bowl fills almost to the top–about 1/8" below the rim. Is this normal?

A water level about 1/8” below the rim is normal. When the pump pushes the water, it will come up almost to the rim in the front, but should not overflow. The water should come just below those three slits in the back.

My CleanFlow bowl worked normally when I bought it but now it overflows.

More than likely it's because of a dirty filter. When the filter gets clogged with minerals it can't move water through as quickly. As a result the water level in the pump chamber will drop, and the reservoir will dispense more water, causing an overflow. Take the filter and run the pump to see if that is the case, and if so the filter should be cleaned or needs to be replaced.

What is the difference between the small CleanFlow for Cats and the small CleanFlow for Dogs?

The cat version allows you to order it without the reservoir. But other than that, the small CleanFlow for Cats and the small CleanFlow for Dogs are identical products. They have the same features and bowl capacity.

Can these be placed outside–on the porch for instance?

Yes, it can be placed in a covered area outdoors as long as the temperature is not below freezing. Please make sure the outlet is a GFCI outdoor rated outlet and do not use an extension cord.

How many gallons per hour does the medium/large pump put out?

The medium/large pumps out 2 gallons per hour.

What is the diameter of the water bowl and what is the depth of the water?

Here are the diameter & depth measurements for the bowl portion of each size CleanFlow unit:Small: 7.5" diameter, 2.375" depthMedium: 8.875" diameter, 3.5" depthLarge: 10.375" diameter, 4.5" depth

Is the plastic BPH & PBA free?

Yes, the plastic is BPH & PBA free.

Do you carry replacement reservoirs in case anything happens to the one I have?

Unfortunately, we do not carry replacement reservoirs. Please make sure to hand wash your reservoir and DO NOT place in the dishwasher. If you follow these guidelines, your reservoir should last a long time.

My dog won't drink from it because of the water movement. How can I get him to accept this new watering bowl?

Most pets will grow accustomed to the water movement. You could start by leaving the bowl unplugged and plugging it in after they’ve become accustomed to the new bowl.

Troubleshooting your CleanFlow product:

  1. Make sure the filter media is placed properly inside the unit. It should not be near the plastic pole inside the pump section of the bowl. (see image)2. Be sure the cord is properly secured in the inlet designed to hold the cord. If it is raising the lid that holds the reservoir it will cause an overflow. (see image)3. Place the lid that holds the reservoir securely to cover the filter and pump compartment, making sure all parts are connected properly. If the lid is not flush against the base it will cause an overflow. (see image)4. Check the cap of the reservoir, it should be screwed tight. If not screwed on properly and tight, it will cause an overflow.5. Be sure the K&H logo on the reservoir is facing the water side of the bowl.6. Place the CleanFlow on a level surface.7. Clean the filter media regularly, at least once a week, to ensure it is not being blocked by hair and debris. If you are experiencing an overflow, simply remove the filter for a day. If the overflow stops, clean the filter or replace the filter immediately.

  • Very quiet and holds a lot of water

    By on

This water bowl and reservoir holds enough water to last for many days. I like that I do not have to refill it constantly. The other water recirculating bowls without a reservoir start buzzing when they need a refill and it can be annoying and hard to anticipate. This one takes out the need to constantly monitor the fill line. I love it! I keep it in my kitchen and it is even quieter than my refrigerator.

  • Great Waterer

I got the medium. At any one time, I have 6-7 dogs in my home. I should have gotten the larger size. The filter needs cleaned once a week and I fill the reservoir daily. I had a problem with the original pump after a week. K&H customer service was excellent and replaced it, no charge. It runs great now and I've had no other issues after 2 months of use.

  • Awesome waterer!!!

This water bowl is DEFINITELY worth the price. I have great Danes, German shepherds and small dogs and the slobber from the Danes and just dirt get filtered very nicely and the water circulates nicely. I fill it every couple days. Also has a plug in the lid that when you go to turn the water tank into the base it doesn't spill all over.

  • I LOVE this water bowl!!!

I bought this Clean Flow Filtered Water Bowl (Large) by K&H Pet Products about two months ago for our three dogs and two cats. I absolutely love it! This is the first water bowl we've had that keeps the water flowing and it makes an incredible difference in keeping the water fresh and clean. I love the size of the large bowl and how simple it is to refill the reservoir. Just a couple of tips...if the bowl starts to make loud strange noises, check the water levels. The water level is probably low in the bowl and the reservoir is also probably empty. Refilling both solved the problem for me. Additionally, if the motor is running loud or water leaks from the unit, stop and clean the unit. I've had a couple of incidents with the motor running loudly and a water leak issue, and after cleaning the unit per the instructions (actually, quite simple), the filtered bowl ran quietly and perfectly again. I now clean the unit about every 1.5 weeks to two weeks, and that seems to keep issues from occurring. It did take a few weeks for the dogs to get used to their new water bowl, but once they did, they were fine. I feel so much better about their water supply now...they are no longer drinking stagnant, stale water, with various foreign particles floating around in it. :) … more

  • Filtered Water option

    By on

Pros: I really like the fact the water is filtered and it has the jug to hold extra water. Cons: Pretty Noisy motor, if you have to clean the tank or bowl before it's empty, it makes a mess with the water and if your pet drops food in it, the food sits back by the filter and creates a film on top of the water.

  • Water Leaks

    By on

I bought this and absolutely LOVED IT until a week later when the entire jug of water was in my floor. I've tried to use it three more times thinking it was a user issue but it's not. It leaks from the bottom until all the water is gone. Sooo sad about this!

  • Love my new water bowl

And so do my dogs - yes they were freaked out at first by the whirling water but soon got over that. I love that they always have clean water without all the “backwash” they used to have. And it is so easy to clean. L-O-V-E. IT!!!

Keeps water so clean. Only clean bowl once a month. It took the dog a little time to get used to the motor, but now the dogs and cat love it. Would differently buy again if I had to. It the best thing for good health and clean water.

We love this bowl because it is so easy to keep our 3 dogs hydrated. Customer service is excellent. I called to see if I needed to buy a new pump when it went out and the lady replaced the whole unit, no questions asked. I highly recommend this.

  • Good Bowl when Modified

    By on

I've had this bowl almost two years now. Started out with two dogs using it and after two days water would start slopping over the edge. I remedied that somewhat by pushing 6 holes into the filter with a hole punch. Still though, the filter would back up after about a week. Then I found a flow control valve off an old fountain pump that just happened to fit in the space. I shut that down to where water still circulates, but doesn't come close to the top until the filter is actually dirty and in need of changing. I think they could remedy this by either lowering the level of the bump out in the bowl that makes the water swirl or getting a slightly smaller pump. By the way, my dogs have not commented on the quality of the water. They still drink the same as they always have. … more
