How long is the cord?
The cord is 5.5 feet long.
What temperature will this bed reach?
The surface of the bed will be about 15°F above ambient air temperature until the pet lies on the bed. Then it will warm to about 102°F, which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats.
IS this bed pressure sensitive?
This bed is not pressure sensitive. All K&H heated beds and pads feature dual thermostats and are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature when he/she lies on the pad. This is a function of the insulation provided by a pet’s body, not the weight of the pet. K&H beds and pads will emit heat anytime they are plugged in so your pet can sense that heat and be drawn to the bed or pad for warmth and comfort. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
How long can a heated bed be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards.
Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The bed is always on when plugged in

An instant hit
By Jane on Feb 2, 2021
After trying unsuccessfully for two months to lure my senior cat with treats and catnip into a heated nest-style bed, I decided to try something with a front door and roof, based on her preference for a cardboard box that sits on its side. The kitty sleephouse arrived on one of the coldest days of the year. In 5 minutes I had it set up---it's that easy. The instructions were to let it warm up for 20 minutes. I waited 10 minutes, which is how long it took to feel room temperature... then I showed kitty a treat and put it in the new house. She went in after the treat and didn't come out for two hours. Warm and cozy
By Rombek110 on Feb 19, 2021
I like to sleep with the windows open all year round! And since it's winter I didn't want him freezing at night while we sleep, so I after weighing my options I chose this one. It was a good choice! It gets warm but not hot which gives me piece of mind, and he loves sitting on the top as well. Now when we go to bed he either sleeps with us or is curled up in his "house". It did take him a little while to get comfortable going inside it, but I just set it up (and tested it), placed in our room and let him go inside on his own terms.

good buy, would recommend
By ghg555 on Apr 12, 2021
Extremely easy to assemble. My 10mo old kittens were instantly obsessed. One was even trying to get at the bed while it was in the packaging. The moment it was plugged in the other kitten was inside immediately.

Heated House
By LAMARQ on Mar 27, 2021
The sleephouse is very well made. Both my cats have spent time in it. I purchased this because my one cat always huddles next to the heater when it comes on.

Seems like a great idea but not sure the cats agree...
By ChibiMitzi on Jan 5, 2021
On paper this seems like a great idea and the product itself seems well-made, but I'll be darned if I can get the cats (got 3 of 'em) to actually use it! I've had it a few months now, and I think it has been used maybe twice... They seem to prefer heated pads out in the open. Heck, they prefer the cardboard box on its side with a regular pet crate pad inserted over this nice, super cozy looking box... Oh, and I don't think any of them have sat on the padded top either...

Stylish Hut for Fall & Winter Feline Children
By Practicality on Nov 5, 2020
We like to turn the thermostat in the house down low at night because it makes for better sleeping and saves on the heating bill. Unfortunately, our cats are not thrilled with this, so that sends them into our beds. In the morning there will be a cat stretched out on or under the comforter, and fairness of space usage is not something a cat recognizes. So I bought one of these and crossed my fingers. It zips at the top and is quite sturdy. I didn't do anything but set it up and plug it in. In less than a day my youngest cat dove in and took a 3 hour nap. Sadly he will not let his older brother in, so I did buy a second one. The only problem is that the purring before they fall asleep is amplified by the hut, but contentment is a good thing. This is an extremely good value for the money. The heater is very low, but it makes a big difference to them. You will be happy you got this. … more

buyer beware
By crazylcats40 on Jan 9, 2021
I bought this for my cat for this winter and it’s already not heating. I’ve only had it less than 2 months. Total rip off.

just leave the kitty alone
By kois on Oct 11, 2020
those that say they tried everything to get the cat in it- that's the problem. if you try to get the cat in it, they will hate it and detest you (temporarily) because they are cats and want to take their time and must always believe everything is their idea. just put it down, act like you don't want them in it, and they will get in when they're ready. the product is good but cats will never-NEVER- do anything you want them to. they have their reputation to maintain.

Cat loves it
By CatOwner on Jan 23, 2021
My cat loves to sleep in this, little on the pricey side but it's totally worth it.
