Mod Thermo-Kitty Shelter | 21 x 14 x 13 inches | 13 x 19 inches |
Which bed is included with the Mod Thermo-Kitty Shelter?
This product includes the 9" x 12" Small Animal Heated Pad.
What are the walls made of?
The walls are made of 600 denier nylon with a vinyl backing that makes them waterproof and capable of withstanding snow.
How thick are the walls on this product?
The walls are 3/8" thick.
How does the door flap attach?
The door flap adheres to the inside of the shelter with hook & loop material. Cats can push their way through the door flap easily since it's not heavy.
What size is the door opening?
The door opening has a 7 inch diameter.
How do I line up the 2 sides of the zipper?
Here is a snapshot photo showing how to line up the 2 sides of the zipper. Once you have started the zipper, please continue following the directions.
Can I put your regular outdoor heating pad in this shelter instead of the one that comes with it? I'm concerned that the one that only heats half of the pad won't be warm enough in below zero weather.
All of our heating pads warm to 102°F when in use, regardless of size. A larger heating pad will not make the shelter warmer because the heat is not radiant. The animal stays warm by making direct contact with the heat source. This product is designed for the included pad and we would not recommend trying to fit one of our larger pads inside. If you’d like a house with a heating pad that covers the entire floor, please look at our Outdoor Kitty House and Multi-Kitty A-Frame.
How many door openings are there, 1 or 2?
This product has a front door but does not have a rear door. If you’d prefer a shelter with 2 doors, please look at our Outdoor Kitty House and Multi-Kitty A-Frame.
1-Year Limited Warranty.

100% Recommend - keeps kitty toasty outside at night
By midlantic on Feb 16, 2021
A stray cat came to our covered porch at the first snow. Bought this (very speedy delivery). The cat found it right away and has been sleeping in it since before Christmas. He tucked himself into the back heated part, so I got the K&H Pet Products Extreme Weather Kitty Pad & Fleece Cover which is same size as the pad that comes with this hut, but heated the entire length. Now the cat stretches out inside the hut. He's been warm on the coldest nights so far this year, in the upper teens. I am sure it will work in the colder temps to come.

Awesome Outside Refuge
By Bjkk on Feb 13, 2021
So, we live in the country on a couple acres. On any given day, we may see from one to three, what appear to be homeless cats, prowling around our property. In the last month and a half, we had one that my son started to feed daily. He was obviously a farrow cat, as no way will he come to us, though he will look at us. We call him Bear. My son and I looked at all the pros and cons of previous reviewers for cat shelters since our temps were getting close to zero at night. We chose this house, knowing that it really needed to be set up under a deck, covered porch, barn, shed, etc. Unlike some reviews it had no smell, my son literally zipped it together, placed it under our deck on an insulated So, we live in the country on a couple acres. We chose this house, knowing that it really needed to be set up under a deck, covered porch, barn, shed, etc. Unlike some reviews it had no smell, my son literally zipped it together, placed it under our deck on an insulated board, plugged it into a heavy duty extension cord and plugged that one into an outside outlet. That very night, Bear slept inside his knew refuge. I do not know how well the Sherpa pad works, but Bear has slept on it each night since we installed it. Our temps have been close to zero! Two nights ago at 1am I heard a cat fight outside, went to my back garage door and shewed away the stranger. Unfortunately, the next morning, I discovered a lot of fur shed after the two had fought. We have seen Bear come to eat, but do not know if he is still sleeping in the refuge. I have 4 indoor rescued cats. I CANNOT keep anymore in our home. I also cannot stand seeing the homeless ones left in the cold. This refuge is perfect. We did remove the plastic door, as we thought it would scare this cat. It’s saved though. I would recommend this shelter to all, as long as you have a some kind of roof overhead. It’s quite perfect! Thank you for a great product. … more

Cannot recommend
By Rescue on Feb 13, 2021
While this particular product was advertised correctly I had to ask for a refund due to the chemical smell that was within this product. I thought it was just do to the water proofing....but, I have purchased other heated homes and never had this chemical smell to them. Even after airing it out it remained. Was disappointed. But chewy refunded me. There service has always been excellent if/when a problem occurs.

Warm Kitty
By KitKat on Jan 23, 2021
We rescued a small cat walking up our street last November, 2019. She didn’t have any fur on her tail and we could see her ribs through her fur. My husband and I are both allergic to cats, my husband is asthmatic. My daughter and I set up “household “ outside the front of of our house for this cat. This kitty had a “nick” in her ear so we knew that she was “fixed” and taken care of before release. Today she lives in our garage. We leave an opening if she needs to leave. We have purchased a couple of enclosures for her from Chewy along with cat food and treats. Her name is Kit Kat and she is now thriving and enjoying the “cat” good life. Hut ok, Pad Disappointing
By LLWD on Jan 25, 2021
The cats appreciate the shelter, they were not a fan of the plastic “window” so I just leave it off. The heating portion of the pad (only 50% of the whole pad) that came with the shelter is hard. The soft side of the pad has no heating element. Earlier, I purchased another K&H outdoor heating pad and the entire thing is soft and warm - I was disappointed that this shelter did not come with that better pad. Now the cat will go to where ever the full, soft warm pad is! I got the shelter for a good price, but would not buy it again.

Barn cat bed
By Mary on Feb 27, 2021
I got this for my big barn cat who hates the cold. Although small for him, he is a very large cat, he loves it. He is always in it on the really cold days. It's not super sturdy but for in the barn use it works. It keeps the drafts off him and keeps him just warm enough.

Mod Thermo Kitty Shelter
By Wanda on Feb 16, 2021
I have an older cat who loves it. She sleeps in it the majority of the day. She stays in the garage where it gets cold in the winter. I purchased it to make her more comfortable, but I wasn’t sure if she would trade it for her bed. But, she went to it right away and stays in it most of the time.

Not so great.
By Shelter on Jan 29, 2021
Our senior kitty likes to sleep in the garage and tho we live in sunny southern California it gets cold at night during the winter. We purchased this heated kitty shelter hoping he would find warmth and comfort but it barely feels warm, the pad is hard and the stupid shell was a nightmare to zip together and partly popped apart almost immediately. Needless to say, we are returning it.

Kitty loves it!
By Britt on Feb 13, 2021
We have a momma outdoor feral kitty, for whom I bought this bed. She loves it! She’s in it all of the time, and it was perfect timing. We live in upstate NY, and have had some single digit nights. This kitty won’t come inside, so it makes me feel so much better about her being outside.

Good for large cats!
By TurbosMom on Dec 30, 2020
My big guy is 15 pounds! He lives exclusively outdoors. This house is perfect for him. I have it sitting on the deck with the back end toward the direction the wind normally comes from. The snow blows onto it but not into and it stays warm and dry inside. He sleeps on the back part when it is colder and lounges by the door when it is a little warmer. He loves it and did not have an issue going into it from the start. Putting his favorite treats inside probably helped a lot!
