K&H Self-Warming Crate Pad will capture the pet's body heat and radiate back the warmth to the source. The 4 corners are slit to allow the pad to fit many different edges. The adjustable size makes this pad fit into many different crates. The topside of the crate pad is made from soft, inviting micro-fleece while the bottom has a "stay put" non-slip fabric to keep the pad from bunching up in the crate. Simply throw the whole pad in the wash for easy cleaning and care.

What is your self-warming material composed of?
The self-warming material is actually metalized plastic, similar to that in which you’ll find in space blankets. This metallic property basically allows the pet’s body heat to reflect back to your pet.
Could a self-warming product be used outside?
While our self-warming products are great for the indoors, they are not designed to return enough body heat for the cold outdoor temperatures of winter. Rather, they are designed to elevate the temperature of a pet bed that is already around room temperature.For outdoor pets, we recommend using the Lectro-Soft Outdoor Heated Bed, Lectro-Kennel, or Extreme Weather Kitty Pad. These are made for the outdoors and will provide enough heat for an outdoor setting during the cold winter months.

Just what I expected

This is exactly what I wanted and expected. It is a thin pad that uses body heat to act like a heated blanket. I put this over my kennel cushion and it is perfect for my warm loving pup. They are spending more time in their kennel which is helpful with kennel training. I got the large size and it fit right in my large kennel. I have a kennel divider in right now and with the way the sides are, it gives leeway to adjust the length and keeps the rest flat. I’ve also washed it and it stood up well in the washer and dryer. No complaints here.

Maybe Warm, Def Not Cushy

I'm not sure if this retains warmth as indicated in the description, but it definitely is not cousins at all. It's very thin, and my dog is nearly 20 years old, so he needs padding to be comfortable. I put it on his other beds as a topper and he seems to like that, but as a stand alone, it doesn't work for us.

Self-warming mat

This mat provided such comfort for our puppy that he actually started sleeping longer at night! He had an accident one day and it washed nicely in the machine. I actually put it in the dryer on low heat for about 15 minutes (they say to let it dry flat) and it came out fine. Would definitely recommend it.

Perfect fit

As soon as our 14 year old dog saw the bed he walked with me to his new crate, waited patiently for me to install and he jumped in and grabbed his blanket. I could see him smile. Sparky approved is all I need to know it’s perfect.

It does what it advertises: within a minute, it feels warm. My dog absolutely loves it during chilly nights. It is lightly padded (not enough to use it on its own though), the fabric is velvety and wipes clean. Well worth the price

Works well

Bought this for a feral cat shelter. Mama cat showed up on my patio with two very young kittens. It was cold outside so made a shelter and order this pad. They all slept comfortable and it keeps them warm. Will trap kittens when old enough find them good homes. Will also take care of mom and get her TNR.

Cat seems to like it, but it looks different than I expected. The sides bend up, which I liked, because it fit better in her bed.

pad is very thin

I got this pad because the price was very reasonable. I got a new washing machine the kind without the agitator and didn' t know how the puffy cat beds would wash so I thought I'd try this pad. It's very thin. Be careful, I cut a hole in the bottom just removing the tag. Duct tape doesn't stick. I'll try an iron on patch later. It's thin enough to maybe place over another pad just for ease of washing.
