What is the self-warming material composed of?
The self-warming material is actually metalized plastic, similar to that in which you’ll find in space blankets. This metallic property basically allows the pet’s body heat to reflect back to your pet.
Could a self-warming product be used outside?
While our self-warming products are great for the indoors, they are not designed to return enough body heat for the cold outdoor temperatures of winter. Rather, they are designed to elevate the temperature of a pet bed that is already around room temperature.
I bought 2 of these beds based on the description that it would radiate body heat. It may do this, however, there doesn't seem to be much padding in the bed itself. I bought these beds to replace 2 round beds without bolsters hoping my dogs would enjoy the snuggling option provided by the 'sides'. I am disappointed because the sides are super floppy and the cushioning pictured doesn't at all represent the actual product. I purchased the large beds for 2 boxers that are on the large/extra large size (85lb 3yo and 120lb 6yo). I don't foresee these beds lasting very long.
Our dog adores this bed

Our older dog hangs out in this bed most of the time - sometimes all curled up, sometimes spread out all over. She has 3 other beds to choose from. . . well, you get the picture! Plus, it washed just fine after removing the bottom stuffing
Comfy and generously-sized

We were happy to find our 95-lb German Shepherd a bed that will keep him comfy and toasty during the cold winter nights. The beds in the stores were all too small or too stiff.
Love these beds!

My dog is fussy about her sleep arraignments and she likes to be warm and this bed just has it going on. She loves it!! Plenty big enough, room for two if I had two. My dog is a 32lb Standard Schnauzer and there really is room for two Standard Schnauzers. We love this bed and it really does reflect her body heat back to her.
If you're thinking about getting this bed, don't be shy, grab one!!

Both our small dogs love the Self-warming beds by K&H. We have purchased numerous beds from various manufacturers and both dogs gravitate to the K&H self warming beds for most of their day time and night time naps

My husband’s beagle loves his bed! We felt the warmth of the bed where the dog lies versus other areas of the bed and it’s definitely warmer. Plus, the bed is washable – a real advantage.
