Is this pad warm enough to use outdoors during the night in winter?

This pad only radiates body heat back to the pet, and may not be sufficient for winter nights. The K&H Pet Products Extreme Weather Kitty Pad would be a better option.
How do I get my cat to like that pad

If you use treats, cat nip, or other items to put near pad, this may entice your kitty to go on the pad to try it.
What is this made of? Would it be toxic if a pet ingested it?

The topside of the crate pad is made from soft, inviting microfleece while the bottom has a "stay pet" non-slip fabric to keep the pad from bunching up in the crate. The self-warming material is actually metalized plastic, similar to that in which you’ll find in space blankets. It is not intended to be chewed and is not safe if ingested.
Does there need to be a certain weight for it to know to warm up?

There is not a specific weight for this warming pet pad to warm up. Its special construction absorbs a pet's body heat and reflects it back to the animal.

Soft and Cozy Pad

Barney, my 14 lb chihuahua yorkie now has two (2) of these wonderful pads. We bought one earlier this year when he kept laying on the heating pad on the bed, but then it would get too warm. We love that this pad is warming as it reflects his own body heat, but remains comfortable without overheating. The pad washes very nicely, too - just put on gentle cycle in washer and throw in the dryer. We purchased another pad when the oatmeal color was on sale, so now Barney has one on the bed and one on his favorite chair in the living room.

They all love it!

I bought this pad for Moanie, because she loves to sit on the window seat to catch the morning sun. Since I added this warming pad, she has to share the window with Todd. Poor Binx, he is never quick enough and the other two won't share! I will have to get another seat!

Terrific Self-Warming Pad

I bought this to put on my bed for my chihuahua/dachshund mix to sleep on (and hopefully end the bed-hogging). I’ve only had it for a few days and so far it’s been great. He enjoys the extra heat and I’m enjoying the extra space in my bed!

Best pad ever

I have bought over a dozen of these so that I can MACHINE WASH them, air dry them and still have enough for the cats on the patio and the one in my garage. Where I don't have heated pads, I use these and the cats love them! Great price. Great service from Chewy.

My cat loves this warming bed!

The bed is soft and warm and good quality. We purchased it for our outdoor cat house and it fits perfectly. I would not hesitate to buy this again.

K&H Self Warming Pad

I have 5 Fur Babies, I bought 3 of the Self Warming Pads. Unfortunately, none of my fur babies liked it until I put a cover over it, there for defeating the purpose of the warming part. Having a cover over the pad turned out to be a good thing, they lay on it. It is nice and soft and comfy. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a nice soft pad. Also, the size is great!

My Cat's Warming Pad

I still am working on integrating the warming pad into my cats' (plural) routines. I have elderly cat who enjoys laying on the floor by a radiator. Her bed is getting a bit worn, so I purchased the warming pad thinking I could persuade her to move to the new pad. So far, no dice. In the mean time, while in the process of sweeping the floor, I temporarily moved the pad to a window seat, only to be observed by a different cat, who immediately claimed it for herself. We have two seats, so I may be in need of a second pad.

Wonderful!!!

I have a 19 yr old arthritic cat who loves the banisters, sunshine... any heat. He absolutely loves this bed and searches it out, it must work well... I'll get another one or two for him, he's worth it!

Warm but snags

One of my elderly cats will sleep pressed against the baseboard vent, so I got this mat for to her lie on. It seems to be nice and warm, but after a couple weeks it's looking pretty shaggy - she gets her claws caught in it and pulls the yarns out. I wish the bottom had a little more "grip" to it, too. It tends to slide across the floor and I'm always pushing it back by the vent for her. Overall, it does what I need it to, but next time I'd look for a more durable product with a better non-slip backing.
