1/What it the temperature of the water all day? 2/do i need to hook it to the outlet all day? Thanks.
Answer by • Jun 16, 2022
The K&H Thermal-Bowl heated dog water bowl is thermostatically controlled to prevent your outdoor dog’s drinking water from freezing. Even at -20°F the K&H Thermal-Bowl heated pet water bowl keeps water unfrozen and drinkable.
Has anyone used this to put wet cat food in? I have purchased the smaller double bowls from CHEWY. They are nice but just rather small for the food ( I have a few cats eating from).
thanks!

This product will keep canned food from freezing.
Is anyone using this with an extension cord?
Answer by • Dec 28, 2017
Use of an extension cord is not recommended for this product. The MET (Electrical Testing Company) cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with all of the K&H products for safety. MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be used as a temporary solution when using any electrical product. We advise consulting with your electrician for the proper cord for your application.
Do the bowls have weighted bottoms so on windy days they don't blow over?
I am very pleased that the bowl has kept water in my henhouse from freezing in below zero temperatures. My former bowl allowed ice to form consistently, even when refilled with warm water three times a day.

Bowls do their job with a caveat
These bowls (I bought two) do their job in that they don't allow the water to freeze, BUT they also heat the water up to a certain degree where the water is actually warm to very warm to the touch. I bought some bowls this exact size a few years back that were blue plastic on the outside and stainless steel on the inside, and they never heated the water up at all, just kept the water from freezing. I can't remember who made them, but I want to say it was this same company. I can't find them anymore. They were perfect, but these bowls will do. In my experience heated water bowls are only reliable for a couple of seasons and then they go wonky in that they will start to trip the ground fault they are plugged into, which means it's time to replace them. My two outdoor tractor shed cats love them as well as the squirrels, birds and whatever other wildlife comes along...

- 25 below zero without freezing!
We placed this dish outside, on a thick layer of straw, under the eve of our cabin near our home where we feed wildlife. The birds, squirrels and deer all love it! It did not freeze over even after a blizzard in northern Wisconsin with-25 below zero temps.

Good Product
It works as states, just wish it were a bit larger, as I have 3 large dogs who can empty it quickly. I keep it filled and it keeps water from freezing. I gave it a 4 star due to preference of a larger version like I had before.

First night used, water froze
I'm hoping it was a fluke. The water did not freeze all the way but there was a nice layer of ice all the way across the bowl... I'm gonna try again and see how it works out tonight...

Works as expected
This replaced two plastic heated water bowls that my dogs chewed. It works great and they are, thankfully, not trying to chew it.

Works great
The bowl came promptly and works great. I ordered stainless because the plastic in last year's purchase didn't withstand winter.

Beats busting frozen water
I left a four star review and not a five star review because one came out of the box not working.
This size is large enough for two cocker spaniels.
The cord is covered in a steel coating that bends. So far, my cocker spaniels haven’t been able to chew through it.
We have had 12 degree weather and inside their kennel (a small house/shed) the water hasn’t frozen.
I got these two bowls because my kennel is divided into two separate sides, half a wall.
I am disappointed one didn’t work upon opening. I didn’t return it because I didn’t feel like messing with it as these bowls are large.
If your where it freezes at night and you don’t feel like bringing water out every two hours in snow, then get a bowl and test it out.

Great for small animals.
We have had one of these for our cats for our freezing winters for several years. They are also good for dogs and chickens. We have had the cheaper, plastic ones and they don't last as long. Also, I have been concerned about BPA in the plastic. Water high in minerals will coat the bottom of the metal waterers, but it hasn't affected the performance.
