K&H Thermo kitty deluxe hooded cat bed
My Leo loves this bed from day one as it’s his first thermo bed to keep him warm. I live in NY and the temps have definitely dropped this Winter. I would find Leo laying next to the heating vents throughout my apt. Even at night he’d come into my bed to sleep next to mom and dad (which he never does) to keep warm. I chose this particular bed because he prefers cushiony beds as opposed to the foam orthopedic beds (comparing to the popular K&H thermo-kitty cat bed on Chewy around $44). I’ve gotten him orthopedic foam beds in the past and they were all a waste of money because he wouldn’t touch them. But this bed heats up well and I like that it doesn’t overheat up and Leo loves it! You can only feel the heat if you have been laying on it (it requires weight to be pressed against the pillow to feel the heat). Leo already has a self-heating bed but I don’t think it kept him warm enough during the winter months. One thing I’d completely eliminate from this design is the hood. At first it was cute but, it doesn’t give Leo every inch of the bed to sprawl out at every curve around it. Luckily, it zips right off!! I highly recommend this bed for all cats and dogs! It was a great investment for my fur baby!!
Buy the with no hood for 20 bucks less, or pick something else...
Alright, so, I bought this bed for my older cat as it's quite cold where I live. I was excited for the heated feature for her, old lady bones and all. Well, I picked this one and paid the higher price because the hooded feature appealed for my kitty who really likes a warm place to tuck into. Well, unfortunately, the hood just collapses with the slightest movement. There's nothing to brace the hood so it stays up so it just collapses on the poor kitty. Together with that, whether she was in it or not, there wasn't any discernible heat coming from the bed, not really any warmth. Not sure if mine was just defective, or if it just doesn't actually heat up at all, but I'm pretty bummed. Assuming the heat feature is supposed to work, buy the regular shaped bed with no hood for 20 bucks less and you'll get the same thing.
Cat Didn't Like It
I'm so disappointed! My beautiful kitty didn't take to this lovely heated cat bed. I've tried for over a month to have her sleep or even hang out in it. I've moved it from room to room, but it's just not working. When I first brought it home, she tentatively got into it and stayed for about an hour. Then she just ignored it. I sprinkled cat nip in the cushion and that seemed to help, but then she again just walked away from it. I tried with the hood on and with the hood off. Nada. This is a really well made, functional bed. So, I'm going to give it to my friend who has a little dog who loves warm spots. So sad!
Cat Bed Review
Once I took it out of the box and plugged it in, I waited and waited and waited. It warmed up... a little bit. If you want this bed to get super warm, then you are going to be waiting awhile. It warms up a little through all that padding. Well, we waited for one of the cats to try it out. They smelled it, but that was about it. Finally, after a week, my husband kept picking up our elderly cat and putting her in it. She finally figured it out and this is now her new place to sleep! I guess it is just enough warmth to warm her old bones. She is only 5 lbs. and we chose the bigger bed. I recommend the bigger bed for any size cat. Even though she is small, she would not have been comfortable and been able to spread out in a smaller bed.
I bought it for my 18 year old cat that we recently got and it has helped his mobility a lot, he uses it constantly, and when he's not using it, one of the other 3 is using it, nice product, good quality, perfect size for my larger cats, and the smaller cats can cuddle in it, will be looking for similar products for different spaces.
When I purchased this item, I was wondering if my 2 cats would accept it. The oldest probably 15 yrs was in it right after I set it up...so I purchased 2 more and they are also accepted them. They are outdoor kitties that stay in the garage at night...I don't need their other beds as they never go back to them. I have them plugged in safely and they stay very comfortable. Thank you for offering them.
I own this style in both the small and large sizes. My two cats would previously lay on the heat register vents love these beds. The hoods are a bit floppy causing them to fall down and cats lay on top of it, especially the larger one. The smaller size bed hood is more stable, the picture I included is my cat Elsa Bob sleeping in the smaller bed. I gave 4 stars due to hoods and the beds arriving a bit misshaped that I hope works itself out over time.
Wonderful Kitty Bed!
I purchased this for my elderly cat. But all three of my cats take turns in it. It only really heats up when a cat is actually in the bed. I live in Texas - sometimes the cats come out of it because they get too warm during the warmer days. When that happens - I unplug the bed. But when the temps dip they all get in and stay in for much longer. I have two spots - one on the love seat next to me and the other on the floor next to the loveseat. When on the love seat - I often will find one cat in the bed and the other snuggled up next to the bed. Making use of the exterior warmth coming off of the bed - kind of a two-for! Since the cats love it - I'm very happy with the purchase! But it's also a very good looking piece of cat furniture.
Perfect for Frisbie
I purchased this for an outside cat who adopted me and moved into my garage- when I opened it I thought this is much too small for Frisbie, but I hooked it up anyway just to see if he would use it - He loves it - He gets in it and goes right to sleep- this and a Garage Heater keep him warm and toasty all night.
Hit from the start
One of my cats hopped in the bed immediately, even without it being plugged in. Three of my four cats use it often. It doesn't heat up that well, but I do plug it in on occasion. Regardless, they seem to like it anyway. I was just hoping for a little more heat for my older cat... But he really enjoys it anyway, so it's not a total loss. The padding is very nice.
