Perfect for my cat this winter
My older 9 year old cat is loving it so far, he typically runs really cold and is always seeking out heat sources. He spent most of the day on it after getting a true feel for what it does. His sister tries to get in on it a little too, but it's not exactly big enough for the two of them. That's okay because it was mostly for him anyways. I think this is perfect for older kitties who need the extra warmth.

I bought this heating pad for my last surviving stray that has claimed us as their caretakers. I put it in a recently purchased and expensive imported cedar wood cat house that is unlike anything my strays have ever seen beforehand (I worried they wouldn't accept it). But, once the stray entered and laid on the pad, they were 'hooked', and now, since cold air is arriving, they stay inside on the heated pad and only come out for food or a bathroom break. It also helps that the pad only works when it senses weight, and, it uses very little electricity, which makes ME happy.

Works great! Exactly what we needed! We're all getting a good night's sleep now. I'd been using a human-grade heating pad to warm my 20-year-old cat's bed. But the built-in safety feature would automatically turn it off every 3 hours. Around 3am, my cat would yowl to let me know he was cold, and I'd get up to turn it back on. No one was getting a solid night's sleep. This mat is great! It's on all the time but only warms when my cat lays on it. He stays warm all night (and all day). He loves it. And I love that we're all sleeping better.
Safety and Comfort
Love this product! K&H checks all the boxes where safety for our pets is concerned! Heated pad is wonderful, keeps my cats warm and comfortable. This is the second pad of this nature I have purchased, and I have other heated outdoor pads and indoor cat beds as well. A MUST-HAVE for senior cats
I purchased this heating pad last winter for our senior kitty, who has osteoarthritis. She spends about 20 hours per day on it. The heating pad is on our bed (in the middle, at the foot of the mattress, out of our way), attached to an extension cord, which is under the bed. I suspect that most cats would enjoy a warm spot of their own. K&H products are well-designed and constructed with quality materials.
What the heat?
This does heat up but not very much and it heats up on the bottom, not the top. As soon as I turned it over to get the warmer part on the top, the former-top-now-bottom side gets toasty. In addition, my house tiger wants nothing to do with this. She didn't even want to be on the bed at the same time; she jumped on the bed, sniffed it, tried to rest on another part of the bed while staring at it, then decided to rest elsewhere. The issue of being warm on the bottom but not the top was weird and concerning.

This mat was a replacement for our first K&H warmer mat purchased maybe 15 or 20 years ago for our previous cat. It had finally dropped heating after all those years. When this mat came it was 2more watts and 4 inches longer than I wanted, and I was thinking about returning it. My cat of only 8 years thought differently and loves it. We will be keeping it and loving it even if it is too big for her perch. It is a wonderful product.

This bed is MUCH smaller than I thought it would be but my 8 year old kitty loves it! Sometimes he gets sore joints and I’m looking forward to seeing if this helps with it. It only heats when he lays on it and only under his body which makes me feel safer about it being a plug in mat. I am waiting to see if the other kitties try to steal it!
The cat will not go near it.
I cannot get the cat to even go near it much less sit on it. I think it is a material thing. Looney cat only likes to sit on towels and whatever synthetic this is she does not like. Plus, it is a little long for chairs. The heating element works just fine.
Comfort
I bought this after seeing my cousins cat using one and hearing her say how much her cat likes it. So I bought this hoping it would help with her paws, it was still advised to declaw cats when we got her as a 2 year old, she’s now 13 and I’m worried about her paws hurting while walking so I bought this for her. I don’t actually know if it helps her or anything but regardless she enjoys laying on and that’s nice to see.
