Instructions

Float or Submerse

  • To use your Thermo-Pond as a floating de-icer, use it with the float ring attached. To use it as a submersible de-icer, unscrew and remove the attached float ring.

Already Frozen Ponds

  • If ice has already formed on the surface of your pond, drill a hole in the ice with an ice auger. Do not chop through ice as the shock waves can damage or kill your fish.
  • Then place your heater through the hole and run your cord to a properly grounded outlet protecting the cord from damage.
  • If you do not have access to an ice auger, place a large pan or bucket with water on the surface of the ice. Place your heater into the container and plug the heater into a properly grounded outlet. The heater will heat the water and container, melting a hole in the pond ice.

Works great for as long as it works

By Customer on Feb 28, 2021

I use this deicer in my 1200 gal. Koi pond for the long ,cold winters in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They work great as long as they are working. They last about 1 or 2 years and then start blowing the GFI outlet. I've installed a warning light system and keep a spare deicer on hand. Still for the price and low power consumption I haven't found a better option.

    Product Dead on Arrival -

By JFBS on Jan 26, 2021

I ordered two of these (one 750 Watts and one 1500 Watts). Within seconds of plugging the 750 Watt one in, it tripped the breaker. When I tried it another outlet, it did the same thing. The 1500 Watt heater worked in both outlets and did not trip the breakers, leading me to conclude that the 750 Watt one has a short and is defective. I cannot use it and need to throw it away as the return period (I bought it pre-season) has expired. A waste of almost $50.00.

    750 watt Pond Deicer

By review on Jan 17, 2021

My location is in eastern MA. and the 750 watt heater works great for my 2000 gallon pond. I have tried the 100 watt and the 250 but they didn't work in colder weather. The 750 watt works well however, when temps are below 20 for several days or if heavy snow falls, it may need extra help to keep an opening in the pond. Usually a bucket of water will free the ice from the heater and keep it clear for hours. Generally speaking the pond is usually free from all ice. I use the 750 heater, a small circulating pump, and an aerator that run all winter.

Perfect for our Duck pool during frigid days of winter

By Vivki on Feb 18, 2021

We have ducks that need plenty of water. During winter this is a challenge as most sources of water freeze up. We placed this deicer in a kiddy pool and the ducks are able to drink and swim no matter the weather. I only wish i had been able to also find a battery operated deicer that was as good.

    No sure what to think.

By PondOwner on Feb 3, 2021

I plugged the deicer in and placed in the pond. A couple days later the deicer was frozen solid in the pond. I broke the ice with a rock and a day later the deicer was working. A couple days later, frozen solid again. Today, deicer is working as I had hoped. Not sure what is going on

It saved my fish over the winter!!!

By Farmercist on Jan 2, 2021

This was the first year I attempted to let my pump and waterfall run over the winter. I knew I was taking a chance, but so far so very good! The temperature went down to 21 degrees F for about 5 days, but the water stayed at about 32. The coldest we usually get here in NY is about 15 degrees, and it typically can last about a week, but our average winter temperature, I would think is about 30.

    Deluxe pond deicer

By Debbie on Feb 11, 2021

Came next day and put it to good use- very cold and lots of frozen water. It works as listed- but unit must be submerged and directions explain it clearly. If needed would buy another one

    K&H 1500 watts thermo-pond de-icer

    By Turtlepond1 on Dec 23, 2020

So my pond is about 3.5 ' deep at it's deepest by about 14' long by about 7' wide, I keep fish and water turtles in it all year and let them hibernate. In the winter it can get into the low teens where I live. I set this baby up to float and it keeps nearly half my pond from freezing over. The absolute best and safest one I've used.

    Waste of Money

By Melted on Jan 16, 2021

Had this in the pond for about a week. First couple days all was ok. Then it stopped. Pulled it out and it had melted on itself - amazing given it is under water and how cold it is. Do not recommend.
