Wish I had read the reviews first! This toy is not the toy for determined chewers. One of my cats swallowed several bits of the hair ties after breaking them off from the main ring of the toy. He seems fine after barfing them up on the carpet but I wouldn’t recommend this for young cats with sharp teeth and a prey instinct.
I'll start with that this is NOT the toys fault. One of my cats is obsessed with hair ties , but he swallows them. I got this for him thinking it would be a safe way for him to pay with hair ties. Unfortunately, in one night unsupervised he chewed off and swallowed each one leaving behind just the big scrunchie. Fortunately he did pass all of them and no obstruction occurred. But I would be wary ordering this if your cat is a very determined hair tie eater.
My tabby cat always likes to steal my hair ties and then taught my other cat to do it too. This toy is great because now he still feels like he's getting away with something and I don't have to worry about him going after my hair ties anymore 😂
I bought this for my female cat that loves to hook things on her teeth and fling it with her paw. She doesn’t chew her toys, she just flings them and carries them to different hiding spots. If your cat chews on their toys, this probably isn’t a good toy for your cat- the hair ties will likely come off since they are only secured together by glue. Either way, this toy requires some supervision just for safety.
Please do not leave this toy alone with your cats. Lot's of cats are obsessed with eating rubber band hair ties. Mine included and she can not be unsupervised for 30 seconds with this toy. This can be an extremely unsafe toy. It's OK to buy it but only let them play in front of you and if you see that they are chewing the bands discontinue use because it's not worth it. If you love them please look out fir their best interest.
We have a kitten who loves hair ties. I saw this on a sale and thought it was the best idea ever. Well our kitty turned her nose up at it. Now the chiweenie plays with it.
My Kip just loves hair ties. So I decided to get this toy for his birthday. He absolutely LOVED it!!
Well made . Thought my Pepper would love this since she loves hair ties. But she was more excited to get a new box & packing paper.
I had high hopes for this toy but my 3 cats have absolutely NO interest in this toy. Either the cat nip is not present in the toy or is just isn't a toy cats are interested in
I had bought two of the scrunchies for my two cats. We have one cat that tends to steal the human scrunchies when they are accidently left out. To no one's surprise, that one cat LOVED this toy when first introduced to it. Not less than an hour after giving them the new toy, I observed my cat chewing and trying to swallow one of the colorful elastic piece that had been pulled off. Fortunately I had been in the room with them and saw what was happening. I was able to pull it out of my cat's mouth. I noticed that there were only two elastic bands left on the toy. In panic, I searched the room and thankfully was able to find the other elastic pieces that were pulled off. I ended up pulling off all the elastic pieces off the toys for the safety of the cats. It was quite easy to pull them right off without scissors and I can see why it took my cat less than an hour to pull three off. It's been a month now with just the scrunchie and the one cat still enjoys playing with the "cat toy scrunchie". She continues to steal human scrunchies to play with. Save yourself the money. No need to buy this toy for your cat. If you do, please supervise your cat or pull off the elastic pieces to prevent your cat from swallowing them.
