So I have an American Staffordshire Terrier who absolutely loves to chew. I have got him every toy Under the Sun to keep him from destroying my stuff LOL. He chews through nylon bones, what claims to be the most durable stuff out there. So people said a Kong ball is the way to go. So I went out and got one within 3 weeks he had chewed through it, when a size up lasted about a month chewed through it, went up to the XXL month-and-a-half chewed through it. The only object I found that he won't chew through is a deer antler but he doesn't play with it like he does the Kong. If you have the money to spend even $10 a month buying a new one then I'm glad but I have yet to find an object that So I have an American Staffordshire Terrier who absolutely loves to chew. My 50lb pit and 70lb pit each have one and it is as indestructible as a toy can get. I stuff them for fun, but they also use them empty as chew toys. Keep in mind the size also upgrades the strength of the rubber so while it might be large for your dogs size, the durability should form your desicion. My 50lb pit is a little peanut compared to his brother but he destroys every toy he can so the big one is better for him.

  • So far so good

Got the large Kong ball a few days ago. I have a 65 lbs rescue pit that has destroyed every single toy we've gotten him within minutes. So far the Kong is holding up fairly well. It has a few dings and scrape marks from his teeth but no punctures as of yet. Titan is enjoying it, and we're definitely enjoying teaching him how to fetch.

  • Best invention

Highly recommend getting a kong and freezing it with peanut butter. It has made car trips better, boredom at home go away, and keeping attention on me when teaching loose leash walking and not on everything else around us. I wish I would have put this sooner. We had the baby kong when are boys were just puppies and they weren't too interested but now at 10months and 1yr, this has all their attention.

  • still undecided.

For the time being we are still a little undecided about the Kong extreme. Fenrir our new rescue was able to destroy a Kong classic in less than five minutes. We order three of the large Kong extreme which he is eventually able to damage/ destroy. We may try ordering the XL or XXL and see if those hold up better to Fenrir. For reference Fenrir is a slim AmStaff male at 60 pounds.

  • Unfortunately, my hyena still bit through this

    By on

I have a 1-1.5 year old border collie who I'm nicknaming a hyena when it comes to chew toys. This Kong toy, while claiming to be durable, still managed to be attacked by my doggo and now has a small slit in it. It's still safe to play with but I'm disappointed. Use with caution if you have an extreme chewer.

  • Virtually Indestructible!

    By on

Every single morning we give our dogs a little peanut butter in their Kongs. Our big Lab can destroy a generic Kong in a matter of days and a normal Kong in a few weeks. But we have had the Extreme Kong for a few months now with ABSOLUTELY NO SIGN OF WEAR. The regular Kong is perfect for our little Beagle and this Extreme Kong is perfect for our big Lab.

  • Game Changer

My dog loves to bark, he is also a puppy and barks a lot if we kennel him while home. I kennel him while we eat because he will jump on the table and eat all the food... Fill this up with peanut butter and he's silent and sooo happy. I use this when he is too excited and I can't get him out to walk, it calms him down and gives him a job to do.

  • new favorite toy

My lax mix's (52 lbs) favorite toy now. I noticed she started chewing away at her red kong so I got this in the next size up to fit her meals in and she eats out of this every morning. She carries it around with her otherwise too. Great buy, will buy more in the future.

  • Durable and huge

Great for your seasoned chewer. Our Saint Bernard does not quite understand the Kong yet but has had a great time dropping it and trying to get the bone out. We usually drop peanut butter in it and tap it down then layer her favorite treats and banana in it and freeze it to keep her busy.
