While this toy seemed small when it arrived, my yorkie puppy was at that time only 2.5 lbs @ 9 weeks. She is now 5lbs @17 weeks. This toy was one she played with consistently, because it was small enough for her to actually squeak herself. Many of the toys we bought her were as big as she was most of which she cannot squeak herself. She is a ferocious little terror for being so tiny, she has the heart of an Airedale. She has no idea how tiny she is and would play with the huge toys too, shaking them about and dragging them all over the house. This one she loves because she can squeak it, so much so she managed to puncture the squeaker last week after two months of play with her sharp little puppy fangs. She was so sad, daddy took it away and told me she had broken her favorite toy duck. I hadn't realized why Kong included an extra squeaker in the package, but there is a small velcro flap in back I saved it anyway and opened the flap and replaced the squeaker and squeaked it to get her attention. You should have seen her face light up, she was so excited her toy was back and squeaker magically worked again!
I purchased 4 of these to replace a similar one that my dog had had for 5 years. I was surprised to see an extra squeaker included in the package. Her old one didn’t have that but still squeaked. I gave her one of the new KONG ducks. The squeaker lasted about 10 minutes, as did the replacement squeakers, in every toy. My dog is a 5lb Maltese with 15 teeth and doesn’t play rough with her toys. So, she is now back to playing with her old duck by a different brand. Since each of these toys has been played with they obviously can’t be returned. So much for believing KONG was a quality brand.
I expected the toy to be larger than it was. It is still fine, though, because I bought it for a Shih-Tzu who likes small toys for his small mouth. I appreciated that the package includes an extra squeaker. I'll have to keep an eye on the toy, though, because a piece of strong Velcro secures the opening for it. It would not be hard for a dog to pull apart the Velcro and remove the squeaker.
I have purchased many, many of these tiny Kong toys over the years. Each time I get a new baby, the welcome home box includes these toys. They last forever! I toss them in the washing machine with their blankets and dry them in the dryer. I think I had one squeaker quit a long time ago and they come with a replacement which is very simple to replace. We have ducks, frogs, bears and a puppy. I bought this for our newest baby and she went for my older baby's before she saw hers. So my older dog went for the new one. Now they don't care, they both have a collection of Kong, tiny , squeaky animals as favorites!
The yellow duck has been my shiatsu’s favorite toy for the past 7 years. She is on duck #10. Her first is still her favorite regardless of its pooooor condition. The one just purchased is half the size of what use to be small. While she still likes it (because its the only one that still squeaks). She is not a toy size pup weighs 19 lbs. consider the size when ordering
My new Goldendoodle Puppy, Hank, claimed this toy immediately when our Chewy box arrived. I loved that it came with extra squeakers but we ended up ordering more. Yes, the chicken has a Velcro backing that allows u to replace the squeaker. So genius!
I have priced these Kong toys in pet stores. My new Yorkie loved to squeak them. The price I paid for 3, plus one free, was so much less expensive that one in the store. My puppy loves them and I know they will last a long time.
Our Chiweenie loves this duck. She has the frog, the bear and the duck but the duck is her favorite and we have had to order extras. She can squeak it herself and carry it easily to us to play fetch or lay with it.
I bought this cute duckling for a present for my little Grand Dog, Moolah! Besides loving it, I discovered it has a velcro sealable compartment for dispensing treats. This is a wonderful training toy, where the dog must concentrate on his staying (with the toy+treat in sight) in a position (eg moving stand) til released to the toy (usually behind which discourages taking steps forward). The dog quickly learns to bring the toy/treat to trainer for reward. I have purchased another kong critter now for my dog.
