Is it correct that this can be used over a no pull harness that has the leash attachment over the dogs back? There is an opening to accommodate that?

This product has a 2-way zipper that allows access to underneath harness or leash attachments, so it can be easily worn over any harness.
Why would I not achieve the same cooling effects simply by wetting down my dog? My concern is that the vest will actually make my dog more hot, rather than cool him off. Can you explain, please? Thank you.

This vest is light in color to reflect the sun's heat. As the water evaporates, it takes your dog’s body heat with it, keeping them fresh and comfy. Re-wet as many times as is necessary to make it to the end of the outing.
When you wet the vest will it get your dog wet? How many degrees will it decrease body temperature?

This coat is not waterproof, water will go through it. It is made with lightweight material to help keep your pet cool. The amount of cooling will vary and depend upon the individual pet characteristics and activity level as well as weather conditions.

old dog friendly

We have 3 dogs, the eldest is a 16 1/2 border collie. He has suffered from vestibular syndrome, and it seems to strike him during heat waves. Needless to say we know keep him under close watch during all heat wave periods, keeping our fans turned on and using cold clothes to help him stay cool. I had heard about cooling bandanas and coats, so I looked some up. Reviewing all that chewy offered, I felt unsure which one would work best for my dog. Most people mentioned using it for outdoor activities, and my need was to keep my very old dog from getting overheated, often while just lying around on his bed. I ordered a large. Our dog is long in back, not big in the neck, and I ended up getting a large. Although perhaps it could fit him better around the neck, the back is better for covered his length, and this one works just fine. Our elder guy is now much cooler when the temps get up, and we can use it during the night, or if we re-up the water on it, even when we go out. We are careful to make sure we don't leave it on when it's dried out, either rewetting or removing, depending on temps. I only gave it a four star b/c the sizing but it is very doable.

Works as advertised

We live in inland SoCal and it gets hot here. I bought this for my guy as he has epilepsy and I want to keep him from getting too warm. Pros: it was easy to adjust to fit him, easy to put on and remove, and definitely kept him cooler. Cons: I’ve used it twice now for about 20 minutes and can see that I will need to bring water to re-wet the vest periodically. My biggest complaint/comment is the zipper. I understand it was put there so a leash could be attached to a harness underneath, but why would anyone put a vest over a harness? It would defeat the purpose of the cooling effect. For me, it would have been better had it been a clip instead. I put a ring (like a key ring) through the little holes on the ends of both zippers so I can attach a leash. If my dog were larger or a puller that probably wouldn’t work though. My dog is 24 lbs and I have the small. We started with the medium but it was too long and covered his little tallywhacker. That wouldn’t work! All in all, I’m happy!

works on my black dog

I have a corgi--white neck/black back. I can feel the temp difference between the fur colors with my hand. In sun, or heat, she just lies down, rolls over, won't walk. But wearing her vest she trots off for afternoon exercise. Hiking in mountains, 85 degrees, she jumped in streams, rewet herself, walked several miles. I took off my teeshirt, and wet it in cold water--both of us comfortable.

Perfect for TEXAS heat

I’m so glad I found a vest to keep my pup cool in this three digit heat. Safety wise I feel better about keeping up with our daily walks. He’s all black and a large boy so any relief I can get for him means a lot. The sizing runs on the larger side but the adjustable straps made fitting so easy. I’m buying one for his doggie cousin since this product works so well.

NO RELIEF

I purchased and tried to use this item several times with different approaches for my 1 year old female GSD who tends to run warm generally this summer, but it honestly provided no relief at all.
