So my pup is much faster than me so becomes a puller on occasion so I wanted to have a “safety harness” to wear just in case. So I ordered this on a sale & originally had a hard time putting it together. Which Chewy was great and sent me another but the second was defective, the first one had the clip “upside down”. Anyways, after working on the first harness I used it quite a bit but just on basic walks. Then we had the opportunity to test the “joring” part of the harness with a trail run but we had an unexpected situation and my pup took off running faster when the harness clip (sewed on section) Split! And my pup was free, out of reaction I jumped on her leash and caught her (with a jammed finger & scratches) but she was safe with me. This was completely unexpected, I don’t know how it’s possible for it function in a higher speed setting — it just seems to be faulty or poorly made which I feel that is a rare case for Kurgo. But I just haven’t had luck with this.
This belt pack has been a game-changer for managing my adolescent malamute while walking with my older aussie mix. I love the water bottle holder and all the pockets for storing necessary items and the color. The biggest downside is that the metal clip that connects the strap that attaches to the leash has bent and come off twice when my dog has lunged too hard. I've managed to bend it back fine once and mediocrely another time, but I'm scared it'll break altogether soon. (Kurgo, can you replace this for me?) A lesser drawback is the design of the two small side pockets. Items tend to move away from the opening, making it hard to dig out treats at the right moment to mark good behavior. It'd be nice to make a bigger zipper opening for them (or move it) in the future.
I bought this because I practice both running and canicross with my dog. This allows me to bring along water for my pup during hot or long runs and poop bags for inevitable stops. It's also far more comfortable than just wearing a regular waist leash when she pulls during canicross. I leave off the leg straps as they are more for skijoring. My only complaint was it didn't come with instructions for where to attach my dog's lead but it was pretty easy to figure out after looking it up online.
I just walk my dog around the neighborhood and do some forest hiking also, this belt will be great at mushroom season this fall,I can have free hands to pick and dont have to worry about dogo getting lost!
Bought this to accompany my ruff wear skijoring harness It was awesome and worked like a dream. Will also be a great pack to use for running.
At first I was upset because the waist was 43". But there is a strap that is bundled up in a hidden way. That extends it to 52" plus comfortably. The leg straps are removable. They will have to be removed if you have a girlish figure. This pack wont sit on you well with leg straps otherwise. Kind of only area this belt needs improvement in. I was able to attach 3 dogs to it each over 50lbs and walk them successfully. My back didn't hurt and I am very pleased with the wide strap for the back. It does twist around a bit which is why the leg straps would have been useful. I will still use this belt daily now. I needed a way to walk my 3 dogs at once. The water bottle holder is also very good. You don't even notice it is there and the bottle doesn't slip out at all.
This holds everything I need when going for a walk. You can use it without the leg wraps but it helps keep the pack in place if you are using the accompanying leash. I walk both of my dogs with this. I allows me to be hands free and also still be able to gain control if needed! Way to go Kurgo!
