FAQ

When do I use Lactoquil versus Endurosyn?

Lactoquil is a daily probiotic soft chew specially formulated to support ongoing digestive health maintenance for dogs. If your dog has a history of a sensitive stomach or seems to suffer from on and off again GI upset, talk to your veterinarian to determine if your dog would be a good candidate for Lactoquil.

Endurosyn is a 3-day probiotic oral gel for short-term use in support of digestive health during times of stress or transition. Pets that suffer from GI upset when boarding, traveling, training, or going to the vet are good candidates for Endurosyn. Warnings: Keep out of reach of children. For animal use only.

What is the difference between Lactoquil and Endurosyn?

Lactoquil is a daily probiotic soft chew to be used for ongoing digestive health support for dogs only. It contains high levels of live, viable, naturally occurring beneficial bacteria (like some yogurts) to assist in healthy digestion and absorption.

Endurosyn is not designed for long term use but for short stints of stress or transition (traveling, kenneling, etc.) that can cause GI upset. In addition to probiotics, it contains additional ingredients such as electrolytes, vitamins and concentrated energy sources to help support the protective layers of the bowel as well as maintain proper intestinal pH.

Can I use Lactoquil and Endurosyn together?

There are no known contraindications, but always tell your veterinarian about all the medications and supplements that you give your dog.

What could cause my pet's normal gastrointestinal (GI) system to be disrupted?

A normal GI system has a healthy balance of microorganisms, but your pet's system can be disrupted by:

  • Dietary changes or indiscretions
  • Stress from boarding, travel or hospitalization
  • Antibiotic therapy
  • Deworming
  • Age
  • Food sensitivities

Can I use Lactoquil for my cat?

No. Lactoquil is labeled for use in dogs only.

Why does Lactoquil contain several strains of bacteria?

The GI tract has a complex, intermixing array of beneficial bacteria, called the microflora. It is maintained in a careful balance that coats and protects the layers of the intestines. Under certain conditions, gaps or breaks in the microflora appear creating opportunities for microbial imbalances to occur. This often leads to GI upset and distress. A probiotic with multi-strains of bacteria is able to utilize the strengths of each specific strain to promote proper gut flora balance.

How should Lactoquil be stored?

Store at room temperature in a location your dog can't access.

Lactoquil is packaged in a sealed jar within plastic twist-tie bags and should be kept sealed and stored at room temperature when not in use. It does not require refrigeration or any other special storage.

When should Lactoquil be given?

Lactoquil can be given during or after meal time. Provide fresh water at all times.

Feeding Directions:

What is the protein source for Lactoquil (flavor)?

What is the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC)?

The National Animal Supplement Council is a nonprofit industry group dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health of companion animals throughout the U.S. The overriding goal of the NASC is to promote the health and well-being of cats and dogs that are given animal health supplements by their owners, and to protect and enhance the integrity of the animal health product industry.

What is the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) Quality Seal found on Lactoquil and all Bayer supplements?

The NASC Quality Seal program was initiated as part of the NASC's ongoing effort to improve and standardize the animal supplement industry.

The Quality Seal is a way for consumers to know the product they are buying comes from a manufacturer that voluntarily complies with standards set forth by NASC.

NASC member companies must comply with rigorous requirements before they are granted permission to display the seal:

When you see the Quality Seal on a product, you can trust it comes from a reputable company that has successfully passed an independent quality audit.

Look for the NASC Quality Seal on Lactoquil and all Bayer supplements.

Why should I include vitamins & supplements in my pet's diet?

Most commercial pet foods include baseline vitamins and nutrients, but some may not have the adequate amount to suit your pet's exact health needs. Like in humans, vitamins and supplements can help support your pet's long-term health, regulating everything from digestion to muscle growth. Consult your veterinarian to determine the best vitamins and supplements for your furry friend.

How often should I give this supplement to my pet?

It is recommended to give the suggested dosage based off your pet's weight. Please refer to the Feeding Instructions tab and consult with your veterinarian for more information.

Is this supplement safe to use with the medication my pet is currently taking?

If your pet has a medical condition and is taking other medication, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to ensure that this supplement is safe to use.

New to us, but seem's to work!

    By on

Based on my own research and reading reviews up the wall on different products within this category. Look no further, this is the one you'll want. Love the fact it's made by Bayer.. Not just some joe-shmoe company. I have a 12year old boxer who sometimes get Gastro upset.. :( To help ease her tummy and so far make it not occur again. I wen't with this product and couldn't be happier.

    Rottie with issues :/

We have had our pup for 4 months, she has a very sensitive stomach, it seemed everything gives / gave her diarrhea, sometimes explosive, and if you have a pup with a sensitive stomach you all know what I mean...Shes on royal canine gi dog food , it helped, her stool was some what firmer. I decided to add probiotics, (what could it hurt?) I love reading ratings, so i opted for lactoquil its pretty much 5 stars. We ordered on friday, started her on it Saturday today is Tuesday and she actually had a regular, nice tootsie roll type stool. I'm so HAPPY if you have this problem, it's hard to crate train a pup. I'm hoping I can wean her to a new dog food , one that's not as expensive (70 dollars We have had our pup for 4 months, she has a very sensitive stomach, it seemed everything gives / gave her diarrhea, sometimes explosive, and if you have a pup with a sensitive stomach you all know what I mean...Shes on royal canine gi dog food , it helped, her stool was some what firmer. Both of my large breed dogs have benefited from this supplement. They are much more "regular" now and they both love the taste so it's like a treat for them.

Worked in less than 24 hours!

My pup was on another type of probiotic from Zesty Paws. I was not too fond of the 3 a day setup as this was for 2 dogs so I decided to brand shop. During this time, my white shepherd developed digestive issues coming off of the probiotic in question. Initially Zesty Paws took almost a week to kick in if not longer (didn't really notice a change until suddenly they both started pooping at expected intervals and color/consistency became literally perfect). With the Bayer brand, it literally stopped my white shepherds 5 day straight episode of explosive runs in its tracks within 24 hours. Monday when I gave him his first chew, he was just done violently shooting mucus laced poops during his morning play time. I visited petco (big mistake, almost double the price) and got a bag of this glorious stuff. I stopped by my vet at Banfield on the way and explained what my pup was going through, and they suggested bringing him in for over 600 dollars of testing (xrays, stool, blood panel, comprehensive checkup, visit fee)... I swallowed my financial pride and scheduled an appointment for the same day. I went home and hugged my pooch in preparation for the financial molestation that was incoming, not to mention he hates being poked and tested when I'm not around. Then decided to call and cancel my appointment to give the probiotic a chance to do its thing. I scheduled something for 3 days after instead. I just canceled this appointment because literally the next day, he was back to normal in the poop department. Chewy is now getting me this godsend product at half the price and my pooches are happily poopin' away :) … more

Helped my Chipin with digestive issues

    By on

I have a 10year old Chipin named Dixie. She was rescued around age 1 from a kill shelter in Georgia. She has been with me ever since. She has always had digestion issues and gastritis caused from anxiety and sensitive stomach. Her diet is under control but she would still have bouts of stomach upset. I have tried other probiotics and she won't take them. I tried veterinary Purina Fortiflora and she wouldn't eat the food it was sprinkled in. I tried Lactoquil and she loves it. She thinks it is a treat she gets everyday and it works great. It has really helped to keep her system balanced.

Often times Standard Poodles have gastro intenstinal issues. My vet recommended Lactoquil after a few bouts of inflammatory colitis with my standard parti-poodle..young dog. This has everything under control.
