This dog food showed up on an independent sources' recommended list of high quality foods so I bought a bag for my 100lb German Shepherd. It cost a third more than other high quality brands, the recommended daily amount ended up being a third more than other high quality brands, and my dog doesn't like it. Will not purchase again.

  • Good food but tiny pieces

    By on

I do rotation feeding and was looking for a cheap (ish) pork-based dog food. This had good ingredients and I got it on a very good price on sale, for about a dollar a pound. The only problem is the kibble pieces are very small, so be wary of buying for larger breeds; my 50-lb. dog sometimes eats too fast and briefly gets a piece stuck in her throat. I likely won't buy again just because of that, but otherwise it's great. I currently mix it into wet food so she can finish the bags I bought, so she is forced to chew the pieces and she doesn't choke.

  • Good small bites but not a favorite

Put this out in addition to Fromm Pork and Applesauce and my prefers the Fromm. If it is the only option, Zeke will eat it only after seeing nothing else is coming.

  • Dog thinks it's terrific

    By on

I ordered this prior to seeing the first review so I was concerned, but our lab loves it. He's not a picky eater but he loves this stuff and inhales it. And on the other end, his waste is consistently solid and easy to pick up from neighbors' lawns when we are walking. Every dog is different, but I'll buy more and recommend trying it for your dog. By the way, the kibble is small so small dogs should be able to handle it well.

  • Several upset stomachs

    By on

My dogs rotate food every two bags. They've tried about every quality food made and do very well when switching because they are used to it. This food has caused upset stomachs, lots of horrible gas and extremely soft mushy stools. Perhaps it is the pork which they seldom eat or maybe it is just the formula but I am very unhappy with this food.
