Uses

Levetiracetam is an oral medication that is indicated for the management of refractory epilepsy.

Possible Side Effects

All seizure control medications have potential to cause drowsiness. Some cats lose their appetites temporarily when beginning levetiracetam.

Drug & Food Interactions

Levetiracetam should not be used in pets who have previously exhibited hypersensitivity to it or any of its components. It should be used with caution in pets with renal impairment; dosing amounts or dosing frequency changes should be considered.

Precautions

This medication has been shown to cause increased fetal and embryonal losses, and should only be used in pregnant animals when benefits outweigh risks. Pets with decreased kidney function should use this medication with caution. When discontinuing the use of this medication, gradual withdrawal is recommended to help prevent the likelihood of seizure-withdrawals.

multiple orders were completely unusable

My order arrived with most of the capsules semi-melted and stuck together in one large clump. The shipment was not exposed to the elements (at least on my end). The replacement shipment arrived in the same condition and was completely unusable. Chewy folks were helpful but clearly the compounding pharmacy did not take precautions regarding heat and/or humidity. I ultimately had to order branded tablets in standard foil sealed bottles with dessicant.

Helped my Yoshi for a short time

It worked for a little while. Unfortunately, my poor baby had a massive seizure on November 28th and it went on for about an hour and a half. He was 15 years old and I had to do one of the hardest decisions ever. I had to let him go. Under no circumstance would I let him suffer.

Not suitable for cats

It's unfortunate because the veterinary nurse who called the prescription in the Chewy made it very clear that this was for a CAT. The pills are huge and definitely not suitable for a cat. Maybe a large breed dog dog. This would be hard for a human to swallow.

Too strong for my dog

I have my dog 1 pill and it was way too strong for her. She was lateral and almost a zombie. My vet and I agreed to not give her any more. I am giving thus 3 stars as I do not want the product to lose any ratings as it may be a life saver to others, however I bought 120 and only used 1.
