Why do I need a service plan?
Think of it like a cell phone service plan for your dog. It provides your collar access to the AT&T network for GPS tracking, 24/7 access to the Pet Poison Helpline, a free size exchange, and our 3-year limited warranty.
Is cellular coverage needed?
Yes, your smartphone will need to have cellular service in order for our app to function properly. Your tracking device will need to be connected to the AT&T network to communicate to the app on your phone (like a cell phone for your dog). Weak cellular service and/or poor AT&T coverage where you live may interfere with product performance.
How does the GPS work?
LINK AKC uses advanced GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and cellular data to monitor the location of your dog. Think about LINK AKC as a smartphone for your dog: if it is powered on and has connectivity it is able to communicate to the LINK AKC network, which communicates to your LINK AKC app, similar to two smartphones calling each other.
Can someone else use the app to track my dog?
Yes, they will need to download the Link AKC app on their device and use your login credentials.
How often does it need to be charged?
We recommend charging your collar nightly, like your cell phone, so that your dog starts every morning with a full battery. With regular use, battery life is around 2 days.
How does the activity feature and recommendation work?
LINK AKC recommends a daily activity goal based on your dog's sex, age, and breed to help you and your family manage your dog's wellness. With a proprietary three-axis accelerometer LINK AKC tracks your dog's daily movement and learns what constitutes as high and moderate intensity and thus counting towards your dog's daily activity goal. This is similar to human wearables that measure both step count as well as active minutes.
