What size bottle would you recommend for two female rats?
Answer by ChewyJan 02, 2019
An average-sized rat should drink about 2 ounces of water per day. The 6 ounce bottle would be suitable for use with 2 rats, if refilled daily.

Is there a trick to get these to not leak?
Answer by ChewyJan 31, 2020
This little drip is the first release of water and is created as your water bottle forms a new vacuum seal. In order for a vacuum to form within the sealed water bottle, the air space and water volume need to equalize. This little release of water is the after effect of this equalization as the pressure stabilizes, and is perfectly normal. A single droplet at the end of the drinking tube is not a sign of a leaking water bottle. To help the vacuum-seal establish when the water bottle is first filled and mounted, tap the ball bearing several times with your fingertip. This releases small amounts of water and speeds up the equalization of the vacuum pressure.

is this good to use with Guinea pigs?

Only lasted 2 years; thin glass brok

I bought this because I thought this would be a nice thick glass that would be sturdy for my rabbit. Today after about 2 years of use, a piece of the glass literally broke off from where the wire goes around to hold it. Regardless of all the water it spilled, I am terrified of the idea that my rabbit could have ingested the broken glass.

Dehydration hazard

I was in the market for a new water bottle for my guinea pig. I had bought 2 different glass ones to try. This being one of them. The first continously leaked. So I tried this one. This one did not leak! Not even when it was supposed to! I kept a eye on it and the water level wasn't changing I began to press in the ball and nothing. I didn't see but the tiniest drip of water after the 4th press. Which would make sense why my guinea pig tore it from the cage trying to get water! For the sake of pet safety I do not recommend this product!

Chew proof and no leaks

These water bottles are leak proof, if you prime them properly (if yours leak, look up how to prime small animal water bottle) and completely chew proof with all metal lids. I attached these inside my mouse cages and they work great.

Dehydration warning!!!

I got this for my rats, and I don't understand how a lot of people are saying it leaks too much... Mine leaks very little, if at all!! I never see or hear that thing bubble... And when I go to see if they're getting any water out of it, I have to sit there for a hot minute to force some water to fall down into the tube and start dripping a tiny little bit...maybe they fixed the problem but they fixed it too much... I do NOT recommend!! I'd like to get my money back so I can buy a different water bottle, honestly... It was a waste of money at this price...

leaks if you put it on the outside of the cage!

I put the bottle on the inside of the cage and it works great. If you put it on the outside, it leaks constantly. I get why people put it on the outside (easier to get to without opening the cage) but I personally like it better on the inside but that’s just me. My bunny drinks from it just fine without it leaking.

Leaks so bad

I got it for a back up water bottle and I needed to use it this week. It leaks really bad, doesn't ever stop dripping, and is completely empty in just a few minutes.

Constantly Leaks and strong rubber smell

This water bottle constantly leaks after I fill in the water, so it’s not working. Not only so, the rubber stopper has a very strong plastic/rubber smell. This rubber stopper would be soaking in water all the time and could make water toxic to my pet. I would not recommend this water bottle.

Quality water bottle

heavy duty glass, rubber stopper and stainless steel spout surpasses all the years of replacing water bottles (even the bubbles dispensing are consistent) from the start... Buttercup says, 'no complaints here'

Constantly Leaks

This bottle constantly leaks when I fill it. It drips nonstop and floods and soaks my guinea pigs’ fleece and hay. At this point I’m not sure what bottle to purchase because they all seem to have leaking problems. The smaller size doesn’t seem to leak as much but I need a bigger size like this one for my two girls that live together.
