I ordered 6 of these feeding syringes. Unfortunately, this is not the type I found at a retail store and feeding is extremely messy--see photo.
Photo 1: Chewy
Photo 2: Retail
The Chewy syringe does not have the finger base that allows me to easily use hand pressure to compress the food through the tube--no finger grip.
As expected, it is slippery when wet and since it does not have the wider based for hand coordination, you have a difficult time pressing the food through the tube.
So when I press my thumb there is nothing for my pointer finger and middle finger to grasp.
The wider base allows me to easily administer food to my senior pets and not make much of a mess.
Way too big
on Jan 31, 2021
The packaging says it's for handfeeding "baby" animals, but I feel this is a bit misleading. I ordered this hoping to use it for giving our underweight cat his vitamin gel since he won't touch wet foods. This thing is way too big for that. I can see maybe using it for "babies" of large breeds, but not for smaller animals. The tapered tip is big enough to gag an adult cat if I tried to feed him from this.
Garbage - plunger gets stuck
on Jan 18, 2021
I bought three of these to feed an ailing cat. They each worked two or three times, then the plunger gets stuck. It won’t budge unless you force it so hard the food in it spews all over. Will NOT buy again. This seems to be a common problem with the rubber-ringed syringes. I am trying one with a silicone ring from another source.
Ease of use
on Feb 15, 2021
It was a bit bigger than I expected (I should have read the description better), but very easy to use and has a wide enough opening for soft food or gel medication
Not for repeat use

These are very difficult to you after the first time. They stick and do not operate smoothly. Spend the extra money and buy the ones with a silicone ring.
Not for small animals
on Dec 13, 2020
I bought this for my eldest cat and in the review it says can help feed babies. My cat is not a baby. This syringe is for large dogs or maybe a horse. I would not buy this if you need it for small animals.

I actually bought this for my son who was upset that I cleaned out my supply of medicine syringes. I had a variety of them from years past in my kitchen drawer. Little did I know that he liked to use them for working on his cars! I ordered this one to appease him. He said it's nice, but he'd like one a bit smaller (not the smallest ones that they make - one in the middle).
Outstanding Solution for cats

We all know the difficulties of administering ANY type of fluids or medication to a cat. This syringe works and the process is quick and less stressful for you cat.
Not my fave

I ended up ordering a couple of four paws syringes from another company as this syringe is hard to pull back and is hard to control at times. I don’t recommend :0(
Worked at first, now can't get plunger to move.

This feeding syringe worked great at first. I disassemble it to clean it after every feeding. Now, the plunger won't move smoothly in the barrel. I can barely move the plunger with both hands. It's now useless for feeding.
