When full of water, can this be carried by the handle? Must it be emptied first?

You're able to carry this product while it's filled with water.
Is the bowl filled by applying pressure to the reservoir? Does the water in the bowl retreat back into the reservoir once pressure is removed?

This bowl is designed to allow approximately 1 inch of water into the bowl when it is placed flat. It is possible to fill further by pressing on the side however it is not necessary.
Does this bowl work for cats? Is there a cat size? I will be traveling by car with multiple cats and dogs...don’t want to chance escapees by opening cages for water breaks.

This bowl is only available in one size, 3 quarts. However, this works great for both cats and dogs.
I need a water bowl to keep inside a portable pet cage. Because they fold down, there is no way to secure a bowl to the carrier. I need something that will not tip over and gives her plenty of fresh water.

This product had a spill-proof design. It should work for you cage.

Great product but...

This is a great product. I really love this travel bowl, and it holds a good amount of water for my 2 dogs. I would say laying flat it wouldn’t splash all over my car but, it advertises that if it is knocked over it won’t spill either. That is not the case, so if your looking for something completely spill proof this is not for you. However it can be put in a bag with the bowl end up and I have found minimal to no water spills out. So for hiking and out door activities this bowl is perfect. I will recommend this product to other pet lovers that hike/travel, and will continue to use this product.

Nice, but could use improvement...

Needs a way to put a lid on it for travel. As is, if it gets turned over you will have a mess. Would also like to see the water section a bit deeper so the water flows in the drinking section easier to keep the bowl full.

works like a charm

This is very handy for traveling. Caution to all those with arthritic hands: the gasket is tight; I found it easiest to loosen the cap by pinching my fingers on the inside by the drinking holes and my thumb outside of the rim. It will spill if sitting on its back, in drinking fashion, then is jostled or slides around. Otherwise, it rides easily in a vehicle on its base as demonstrated in the photo, wedged against something immobile.

Leaked all over floor

This travel water bowl spilled water all over the car floor when the car turned a corner. The gasket was on tight and the container was not overfilled. Waste of money.

I was really excited when I saw this item

I've had other water bowls in my car that my extremely active Australian Shepherd has managed to spill. But I don't think she's going to be able to spill this one. Very easy to fill very easy to carry back and forth to the car. I bought a second one for my daughter's dog.

Finally...

I had been searching for something that wouldn't slosh and drench my dogs on our long car rides on the weekends and this is perfect. Even with having to slam on brakes this doesn't make a mess and both of my dogs drink out of it without a problem. I wish it was larger but it works great. I read other reviews where people froze a layer of water to keep it cool. I tried it and it worked perfectly. Very sturdy.

This unit is compact for the back seat, but it leaks in the seat so much that the water level is too low for the pup to drink
