Questions & Answers

Where is this leash made?
Answer by ChewyJan 16, 2018
Logical Leather products are fashioned by master leather craftsman right here in North America.

This leash says it’s dimensions are thicker than the “Logic Leash heavy duty” leash... Is the heavy duty one thinner yet stronger? I have a 100+ pound 7 month old great dane and we need a 6 ft leather leash for obedience class. Which leash would be stronger?
Answer by ChewyDec 28, 2017
The dimensions for this product are 72 x 0.75 x 0.2 inches and the dimensions for the Logical Leather Heavy Duty Dog Leash (6 feet) are 72 x 0.62 x 0.12 inches. The Logical Leather Dog Training Leash (6 feet) is specifically made to withstand training so it can handle over 245 pounds of pulling force while weighing less than six ounces.

Would it be used for just walking around town instead of training?
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2018
This leash can be used for walks as well.

Is it sewed together on ends or braided
Answer by ChewyDec 17, 2020
This leash is made from a single long piece of thick premium grade leather and is stitched together on the ends.

Great leash!

I love this heavy duty leash for my 75lb pitty mix. He’s a good walker, but when he sees one of his friends I needed a leash that didn’t give me rope burn when he suddenly dashes forward. This one is perfect!

I had the mistaken expectation that because this leash was leather it would last at least five years. I was thoroughly disappointed in that it did not even last two years. The metal clasp pulled away from the leash and the dog was completely loose. My dog is not a puller so I hate to think about how long this would last with a dog that pulls.

Could be better could be worse

Didn't but the Chewy version, because I was afraid it would be a cheap knock-off off of this brand. Wish I had. This leash is weathering and I don't believe will last very long as my dog wants to chew and wrestle with it. For now it's still intact and just weathering from all the rain.

Already Cracking

We've had these leads for 3 months, and the leather is already becoming brittle and starting to crack. I'd probably go for a more expensive lead going forward, as our other leather leads have lasted for years.

Good quality

This leash is of excellent quality although needs to be worked on to become more pliable. I was also surprised to see that the width was narrower than I expected. I’m not sure it will work on my larger dog. I’d recommend for those with dogs under around 45-50 pounds.

I’ve loved this leash and have used it almost daily for over a year. The leather is still in great shape. However, yesterday when our 55lbs boxer took off for one of her crazy sprints on the grass the metal clip came apart. Not sure how it happened, but wanted to flag it for anyone who has a dog that might go crazy once in a while that this is not a leash I would fully trust. I’m grateful this happened in a park for us where she was safe…

Not what I expected

We were looking for a soft, supple narrower leather leash. The product description says it is 5/8 of an inch. It is not. It is 3/4 of an inch, making it too wide. It's also too thick. If you're looking for a narrow, supple leash, this is not it.

Sudden failure

Absolutely loved this leash for two years. Was easy to hold with my big, reactive dog. But the stitching near the clasp suddenly failed recently, without prior signs of damage, leaving clasp on the harness and an empty leash in my hand. Scary situation that turned out OK. Can’t find a leash I like more, but now apprehensive about quality. Maybe needs to be replaced yearly.

Snapped off

Can you buy a good quality leather leash because it should last forever. This one just snapped right below. The buckle was left hanging on the dogs collar with the overlap, and the rest of the leash was hanging in my husbands hand. I had two of them. I’ll be tossing the 2nd also. I don’t want to risk having that break too.
