After Natural Balance sadly discontinued their venison limited ingredient diet wet food, I needed to find a LID for my cat who is only able to eat novel protein such as rabbit, venison, and kangaroo due to allergies. These types of cat foods are normally astronomically expensive and Lotus has been the only novel protein LID food I found that is not 80+ dollars a month, so for that I am grateful! The pate is dry but I am able to moisten it with some water and my cat eats it without a problem. I never purchased anything with rabbit in it so I decided to try it for a change. I have a multi-cat household so I wasn't sure if it would be accepted. One of my cats that is a very picky eater took to it right away. He usually goes to each plate to see what's out but he stayed with the rabbit pate. He needs to take a pill every day for hyperthyroidism so it's easier putting it in food that he likes. I also have two outdoor TNR cats and the female also enjoyed this food.

Loved their food until I found out that flaxseed in their pates could cause cyanide. I had a few cans tested by a food testing lab and a small amount of cyanide showed up. This is likely from flaxseed in their pates. I had the results reviewed by an expert in veterinary food safety who felt there was too much cyanide in the food for my cat. My cat would only be safely able to eat one can a day instead of two. I let the company know but have not had an appropriate response. Their food would be great if they removed the unnecessary flaxseed.

While my cats ate this readily, the texture is a very hard, grainy "pate". Not like the other Lotus pates. I always add some water anyway to give my cats a little extra hydration, but the texture made difficult mix in. The picture on the can of the "pate" does not match what came out of the can. Prior to feeding, I verified the can was not exprired and the can was completely intact. I am hoping the next can is better.

My cat is on very limited diet, novel proteins only (no beef, chicken, pork or fish). She loved this. It was not soupy, but it wasn't dry or hard either, it was moist and squashed easily with a spoon. She ate it right up. It also contains green mussels, but those are also considered a novel protein and one that highly allergic animals can usually tolerate. Will buy again!

We have four cats. Two refuse this food. Our cats eat everything. They are not picky, at all. On opening the cans there is a strong smell. That might be some enticement for some cats. The contents are almost dry. We add warm water to attempt making this food more palatable. No go. Donated remaining cans to local shelter because nobody has time to return ship this. Oh well. Expected better quality from Lotus.

I have one kitty in my household who has a most sensitive tummy. I had hope that this food would not only be highly palatable to the gang but that it would end digestive assaults. I gave it 4 stars because nobody had a problem with digestion - not even my "problem" child. I couldn't go for 5 stars because they're not too interested in the flavor. I wouldn't let that discourage others to try it because as we all know taste is very personal.

One of my kitties has food sensitivities. The awesome folks at Chewy suggested that my kitties try this brand of rabbit since they did not like another brand. Unfortunately they do not like it. I am giving up on rabbit flavor. It's just not their thing. We are on to Duck and that seems to be more appealing for now. I love Chewy but kitties did not like the food - bummer.

My girl has IBS and has so many allergies. She likes rabbit, but finding one that is rabbit and not rabbit plus some other meats is very hard. I gave this a try knowing Lotus can be trusted to make a good food. My cat is not a pate lover to begin with, so I wasn’t too thrilled when I opened the can and noticed the consistency was that if you tried to mash it with a fork/spoon it would fly across the plate. After using the side of a fork to mash, my cat was eating it, yes....success.Her stool was wonderful and not smelly! The downside is she doesn’t want it everyday and if i dilute it with water to soften it, she will make like she wants to bury it. My cat was diagnosed with IBS and this specific food has done wonders for him! No more upset tummy or vomiting. He goes bonkers over the flavor. I love that unlike some prescription diets, this doesn't contain carrageenan, grain, guar gum, and the smaller cans are bpa free. Awesome product!
