Heats well but does not regulate temperature

    By on

Our beta likes this heater and often swims around it repeatedly in his tank, which is just a bit larger than a gallon. It does not regulate temperature as advertised, however. We have come home to temps as high as 89 degrees and must plug and unplug this heater multiple times a day to regulate temperature. There must be a better way!

    Nice and Cozy

    By on

I got a betta for my office. Being its in an older building and they don't keep the temp consistent. I could tell his water was getting colder than it should be. so I opted for an heater. I plugged it in and pop it in his tank and he loves it. He is always making his bubble nests and swimming around and being very social. Mr Blue is very happy fishy now.

    86 Degrees in 3 Tanks

    By on

Bought 3. Just checked my tanks and they're all at 86'!!! This could have cooked my fish. I'm glad I took it out after the first day or two. Avoid this and invest in something with a quality digital thermostat. My fish are worth much better!

    Happy Betta

    By on

This heater is the perfect size for my 1.3 gal tank and fits neatly in the corner. Before purchasing the heater, I was taking out a quarter of the water and adding in new warm water everyday to keep my betta comfy. Now he is very happy and more energetic than ever! Very happy with purchase!

Good heater but lacks thermostat control

    By on

Heater works well but because it sometimes gets too hot for a small aquarium, it needs a timer to control the temperature. I set the timer so that heater is on for a few hours and then off for an hour so I can keep water between 76 and 78 degrees.

    Saved Them From The Cold

    By on

I bought these in early November right when it was getting cold in Ohio and had (and still have them) in the tank. The water didn't even change the temperature in a polar vortex. Highly Recommend.

    Temporary not lasting

    By on

This worked well until it started losing warmth and eventually it stopped emitting heat after three months. I went to my local pet store and got a submersible undertank heater instead, better lasting.

    Saved my Beta

    By on

We live in the Northeast and our home can get cold overnight.. our beta was slipping into what we described as a cold coma... he wasn't eating, losing weight and barely moving. As a last ditch effort I bough this and it brought my little fishy friend back from the brink. He's swimming and eating again. I find he cuddled up next tp the heat when the house is cool..

    Got too hot

    By on

The heater itself definitely works in heating the water, unlike some other heaters. However it definitely does not maintain temperature as it advertises. I checked the temperature at 86 degrees which is too high for bettas. That would essentially cook them slowly. I gave 3 stars because it would work fine with a timer if you were determined enough to figure out the right balance and purchase a timer. However, the product advertises that it maintains temperature on its own, and it does not. Also the suction cup didn't work well for me. I agree with others that two suction cups may have been better.
