    Didn't get to temperature

    By on

I was hesitant to purchase this because of the many reviews stating that the heater only got the water to about 75, if that. They were correct. Unfortunately, this heater reached about 74 and maxed out. Chewy was wonderful as always and refunded me, but still my betta is left cold.

    Only Heats Partially

    By on

This is the third heater I have tried over the last year from Marina, all of them being this exact same heater. The first two did not heat at all. This time the heater works some, but not as promised in the description. My betta's tank is two gallons and the temperature never goes above 75 degrees. The very first day this heater worked great and had the temperature between 78 and 80 degrees. After that, it quit working properly. Most days he is lucky to have a temperature of 72 degrees. I know that is too cold for bettas, but I am done wasting money on heaters that do not work. Overall, this is my fifth heater in the last year because I tried two other brands in addition to this Marina heater This is the third heater I have tried over the last year from Marina, all of them being this exact same heater. Overall, this is my fifth heater in the last year because I tried two other brands in addition to this Marina heater and none will heat properly. It seems like the manufacturers of heaters for small tanks do not care about whether their products work correctly or not. The only heaters on the market either stay on all the time without regulating temperature so fish can die from water that gets too hot if people forget to unplug it, or they do not heat at all. Because of all the problems and money wasted on heaters for small aquariums, I am no longer going to buy tropical fish when my bettas, guppies, and platies are gone. … more

    Never Worked Even When Replaced

    By on

Sadly the heater never even worked, I gave it the time it needed to accumulate to my tank and then I plugged it in but it never started up, the light never turned on or anything. I contacted Chewy and they were very lovely to send a replacement heater for NO COST! Yet still the same thing, I believe it's the heaters brand at fault not that of Chewy!

It never got above 72 degrees in a 1.8 gallon. Don't buy it doesn't promise what it says.

    fish heater

    By on

Just the right size for a small space intended, resolved the problem of "cold spot" in the tank I was not aware, but stressful to my Betta. In addition, I appreciated the advice to have two smaller heater for the tank vs. one large one for consistency in temperature control. This should extend the life of the heaters too as they work longer with less demand to function at full capacity non-stop.

    10 Watt heater

    By on Top 100 Contributor

The ten watt heater keeps my 2.5 gallon quarantine/hospital tank at 76. Not quite the 78, but thats okay. Its perfect for my mystery snails I just got in and if my corydora get sick that's not too hot for them. Of a betta gets sick, I'll bump up the heat by adding another heater. Not a problem. For the price, this is a great heater since it shuts itself off. I had heaters that don't turn themselves off and they got my tanks up to 86, which isn't good, so I'm very happy with this.

    happy purchase!

    By on

I really like this heater. I got it because my aquarion heater went crazy and cooked my fish... only one died though. This heater stays around 75-77 degrees and is perfect for my fish. I enjoy having the red light because it reminds me the heater is on and working.
