Chewy is phenomenal
By Gupper on Jan 12, 2021
Too soon to tell how to rate the bio rings and how they are working in my sump, but if it's sold by Chewy, I'm sure they're working just fine

Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either
By Underdog on Jul 22, 2019
I've had very similar filter rings from a different brand (don't remember which) that look a lot more like airstones look and are HIGHLY porous. These on the other hand are just short of shiny. Sure the surface isn't perfectly smooth but it's smooth to the touch and you certainly don't see any pores. As a result of not being highly porous they're pretty heavy, and you wind up getting even less bang for your buck if you're comparing by weight.

Some broken
By Jrabb on Jun 16, 2019
Good product but some of them were broken in the package which was a little upsetting.

Makes great bio stuffing for HOB and in-tank filters, too!
By Sarah on Dec 1, 2018
Every single one of the 24 HOB or in-tank filters in my house is stuffed to the gills (pun intended) with these. I rinse them in warm water, then use black pantyhose from the dollar store to make little pouches tied at top and bottom, then pack out every filter with the pouches. When you use these, you don't have to keep the bristled plastic inserts that come with the filter; removing them will give you more room for these rings. You also don't have to use any sort of pouches -- you can actually just cram them in there however they will fit. When I start a new tank, or if a friend wants to start a tank, I steal a pouch or three from other filters for the new one, and *poof* instant-cycle. When I start a new tank, or if a friend wants to start a tank, I steal a pouch or three from other filters for the new one, and *poof* instant-cycle. Three of my tanks are overstuffed with guppies (my daughter brought home three, and now we have 100, mostly juveniles), who are very messy fish for their size, and even those tanks have thriving nitrogen cycles. They are cheap, they are effective, and they never need replacing. The only reason I've deducted a star is because, as mentioned, lots of them are two stuck together, which makes it harder to smoosh the pouches down into the filter sometimes. It's not enough of a big deal for me to even consider switching to something else. … more

Good Product
By Rilee on Aug 17, 2018
Pretty typical bio rings, nothing special about them, they'll get the job done and they are a really good price for how many you get. Some of them were stuck together but that's not really a big deal to me.

marineland ceramic biorings
By Paul on May 30, 2017
Can pack alot into the filter, but their not very porous and a lot of them were still stuck together. Spend the few extra bucks on the fluval rings.
