    Filter Upgrade

By Greenjacket on Apr 10, 2021

Upgraded to this filter after 1 year with the small filter that came with the aquatic turtle kit. So far so good. Had it a week now and the water is crystal clear. Unit is very quiet. Set up was a bit difficult mostly with the priming and air purging. The directions are a bit vague when it comes time to get it running. My advice is to fill the body of the filter 2/3 full with safe water. Snap on the top and then start priming with the priming button. It took me several tries to finally get it running smooth. I have noticed a small amount of foam clinging to the edges of parts and pieces in the tank. Not sure what this is or why it occurred. Don't buy this

By Garbage on Mar 24, 2021

I have always made my own canister filters. They have been great. The one draw back was having to have the pump in the tank. I decided to finally get one that had everything within the canister. This one was on sale; so I figured, sure why not? I went from having to service a filter once every few months (two turtles) to weekly. Aside from that, SOOO noisy. You go through all the steps for checking for noise, hoses not tight enough sucking in air, something got near the impeller so on and so forth. It's just noisy. maybe I got a bum device, I can say that it is my first Marineland canister filter and it is my last Marineland canister filter. Rated 55 gal, on a 40 gal tank, this thing is ... yeah I have always made my own canister filters. They have been great. The one draw back was having to have the pump in the tank. Buy this if you want something that works for less than a year

By jenna on Mar 11, 2021

Got less than a year out of a filter that cost 100 dollars, in a bare bottom tank. No sand or gravel to clog anything, no way to take apart the motor to fix the problem, marine land nor chewy sell just the motor, or any parts for that matter. Incredibly frustrated. When it worked, it worked great. But considering I have nothing in my 40 gal that could cause any issues, I am very upset. Will not purchase again.

    Instructions Are Terrible

By AshL on Feb 5, 2021

I had been dying to get this canister filter, but am so aggravated by the incompetent instructions provided with this product. IF THE RUBBER STOPPER AROUND MOTOR HEAD IS ESSENTIAL, WHY DID THEY NOT LIST AS A PART OR EVEN INCLUDE AS A STEP IN DIRECTIONS?!?!?! After having about 5 gallons of tank water spill out, all over myself and my carpet floor, I tried troubleshooting, guessed where this random no-named rubber black stopper went, installed it (AGAIN NOT LISTED ONCE IN DIRECTIONS) reattached motor head to canister and now it works?!?! Thanks Marineland, I would have paid more for a more competent filter, better instructions and not having to spend all day trying to suck water out of my carpet I had been dying to get this canister filter, but am so aggravated by the incompetent instructions provided with this product. Worth it and easy

By Ealex on Feb 1, 2021

My first canister filter and let me tell you easy to use, move and clean. I filled the brackets and then filled the unit with water to just above the top backet, gave a few wuick shares to get the bubbles out then placed the top on and started it up. Took a minute the first time I used it to purge but after that it was easy. Not messy even when you take the top off. Very happy with it. Has 4 baskets and I use my own filter gloss. It definitely cleans out the water. There is a very small gap on the sides of the baskets but not enough to make me think I’m loosing anything.

    Do Not Forget Gasket

By slamminsammy on Mar 9, 2021

Works real good as long as you do not forget the gasket. Very efficient. However the hose provided is quite stiff. Well organized compartments inside for easy cleaning/replacing. Will update review as necessary.

    Nice canister filter!

By Chancar on Mar 17, 2021

I have another Marineland 220 and a 360, too! They are great filters. I am hoping this one quits making a funny noise and I have tried priming it again so I will see!
