So I have a beta I have had for almostn2 years and this tank though beautiful, the filter keeps breaking and it doesn't seem to clean the water well. I feed once per day and have 2 snails to help with cleanup. The tank still gets a lot of algae despite making sure the light isn't on too long, 2 snails, and minimal feeding. The tubing that connects to the water jet that is supposed to circulate the water continuously disconnects and the replacement is never available. Marineland customer service sadly it unreachable and unhelpful. I will have to find another tank with a filter I can replace to keep Mr. Fish and his friends happy. Shame. It's a beautiful tank, just impossible to fix.
I got this tank because my convicts had babies and all were getting swallowed by other tank members. Unfortunately only one made it into this tank. It is a glass tank, so that part is nice, even the big part of the lid is glass. What I don't like-Filtration system is not the best and will be difficult to clean without emptying the whole tank. It is kind of built into the back of the tank, never seen one quite like this and honestly I don't think it filters much. The top glass is hard to remove for feeding without knocking the light into the tank. There is a flimsy small plastic piece covering the very back top of tank and if you add a heater or anything with a plug it will not close correctly. As I said when you open the glass to feed, the light comes off and if your not careful may end up in the tank. It also should have something to make it easier to lift the glass lid. Hard to get ahold of wet slippery glass while trying to hold on to the light. If I would not have needed it so bad, I would have returned it because it is a hassle.
I bought this for my Betta but the water current is way too strong for these type of fish. I plugged the water filter outlet with some sponge to lessen the current. Now there is white algae growth because the tank needs a strong current for the depth. If you want a planted tank the light is too low. Even my low light plants have lost their luster. Also the pieces on the top don’t fit so don’t get good coverage on top. It’s main attribute is that it looks nice but that’s it really. I would return if I could.
This is my first tank setup and I'm really happy with it! The quality of the tank was really nice and it did not have any leaks so far. I also saw people complaining about the filter being too loud however, the one I got was extremely quiet. So quiet that I have to double check it's even running. The flow is also not too strong unless it's up all the way. The lowest setting doesn't feel like it's flowing enough. I'm overall extremely happy with my purchase. But I will say if your even considering getting a bigger take or have space for it, get a 10 or 20 gal. I do kinda regret getting a 5 gal
This tank is absolutely beautiful. We just put our betta (Quinoa) in yesterday & he loves it! The setup was super easy and the bubbles went away within 24ish hours, the water is perfectly clear. So silent, but my only concern is that even on the lowest setting the water flow is a little strong but nothing that I think will hurt the little guy, and the plastic top that covers the filter area just doesnt fit tight enough to the back like the light does. Very aesthetically pleasing tank overall, will be getting a shrimp and mystery snail sometime soon!
So I do like this tank, but my one issue is the tank arrived with some surface scratches on the interior of the tank. I couldn’t really returned it because I had a fish coming the following day so I had to get it set up ASAP. The tank doesn’t leak or anything, since it was just superficial scratches, so just more annoying than anything else. Otherwise tank is good.
I bought this tank almost 2 months ago and it suddenly cracked in the middle of the night. Water EVERYWHERE and my fish almost died.
GREAT TABLE TOP 5 GAL AQUARIUM VERYTHING WORKS GREAT MOTOR IS VERY QUIET EASY TO TAKE CARE OF
Seamless vertical design and includes filtration system. Does not include heater. I like how the filter system is hidden and the background is black. The filtration system takes up approximately 1.5 gallons of the tank tho. So the fishies only really have about 3 gallons. Good for a betta tho!!
Beautiful profile and you can see in from all angles. My fish really enjoys the greenery I added as resting spots for him. Pump works great and I love the sliding top so that it is safe from my cats when closed but I can easily access for feeding.
