malfunction
By BriC on Dec 6, 2020
Heater stopped heating the tank to its set temperature within a week. The light still came on and that’s confusing because you assume it’s working. It’s not.

If I could give it zero stars I would.
By Salty on Sep 27, 2020
No issues with Chewy. But this product is garbage. I bought one and it fried in only a couple months. Assumed it was a fluke and had a back up just in case and plugged it in and had the same issue. The heaters are leaky and water gets inside of them (I can see rest in my broken heaters). Spend the extra cash to buy any heater but this one. Follow my example, your fish will thank you!

My gf had it for a grand total of 6 weeks before the thermostat got "stuck on" cooking the poor aquarium fish.

One of three heaters didn't last a week.
By JoeR on Jun 28, 2020
I own a 125 gallon aquarium and I purchased three of these Marineland 250 watt heaters to keep my 8 Freshwater Angelfish comfortable with their 20 other tank mates. I have had success with multiple smaller heaters so I purchased 2 and one for back up. I was on buisness for 5 days and when I returned my aquarium was 88 degrees. Luckily I have not lost any fish yet as I was able to cool the water down over the course of a couple of hours. One of the brand new heaters installed as noted in the instructions was faulty and stayed on. I am not sure if the other heater is faulty yet cause the water is too hot for it to need to turn on. I am lucky to have tropical tank and the heat may not affect them I own a 125 gallon aquarium and I purchased three of these Marineland 250 watt heaters to keep my 8 Freshwater Angelfish comfortable with their 20 other tank mates. Really frustrating to get an item from what I thought was a reputable manufacturer to cause such a huge problem for me. Not happy right now. hope not to have more issues with the other two. Not sure my tank can take the stress. … more

Please don’t buy
By Nikki on Apr 19, 2020
I bought this heater, the first one sent didn’t work, wouldn’t even turn on so Chewy sent a replacement. I now wish they hadn’t. I had a top fin heater which has been wonderful in both my 10 and 29 gallon. My grandma needed a heater for her betta tank so I thought I’ll give her the top fin and use my marine land back up. I read the instructions, tested it and then put it in the tank and left for grandmas house. 3 hours later I come home to a nightmare. Water is literally steaming, temp is above 200 and my beloved betta and frog family of 3 and 5 snails are all scorched to death. I sobbed. How could this happen? I’ve always trusted marine land products and now my babies are dead. A horrible death I bought this heater, the first one sent didn’t work, wouldn’t even turn on so Chewy sent a replacement. I’ll never buy another marine land product which is too bad since I live their filters. I’m devastated and angry. Please please don’t risk it, don’t buy any heater from marineland. … more

Lasted 3 months
By Chappynyereri on Apr 11, 2020
Unfortunately this heater only lasted 3 months and then completely quit working just when I needed my quarantine tank. The light turns on but produces 0 heat. It heated the tank perfectly before it died. Now all it does is turn on it’s LED light and sits there in the cold tank.
