Feeding Instructions

Ferrets of all ages should have food and fresh water available at all times.

Young Ferrets (6 - 11 weeks old): It is important at this age to sufficiently moisten the diet for your young ferret. Mix 3 parts warm fresh water to 1 part Marshall Diet (3:1 ration). Allow the mixture to sit for 3 - 5 minutes. Add more Marshall Diet or water until it reaches a wet oatmeal consistency. Keep some dry diet available at this age so your ferret will adjust to a completely dry diet by the time it is 12 - 13 weeks of age.

Adolescent and Adult ferrets (12 weeks and older): By now, your ferret should have converted to the dry diet. Keep fresh water and Marshal Diet available at all times.

  • Ordered by Mistake

    By on

I was comparing prices between a couple websites, so I was a bit distracted when I ordered this. I was looking for Marshall's Carnivore Plus because that's what my Furo has been on thus far. It's a little more pricey than the complete nutrition, but it is totally worth it. This food is mostly filler and you can tell especially when it needs to be ground up for the young ones. You can see when you look through the ingredients, my husband even commented on how it smelled like mashed potatoes. You can see small bits of some sort of grain. The Carnivore Plus also has some vegetable product in it, but not as much. I am in the process of weening my little one of off soft and onto straight 'kibble'. I am in the process of weening my little one of off soft and onto straight 'kibble'. it was going well until I accidentally ordered this. He won't go anywhere near the hard pieces. he does eat it if it's warmed and mashed though. You can tell the difference in quality by just looking at the two next to each other. This kind is lighter, almost airy compared to the carnivore plus. it is a marshalls food either way, so they will get the nutrients they need, but I need to feed him more of this because it just isn't satisfying him, it doesn't keep him full for long. I will probably start mixing in Duk Soup with it until it's gone. I will not make the mistake of ordering this again. Ferret food is a pretty controversial topic and people tend to be very opinionated about which brand or type is acceptable, so just do your research and remember that Ferrets are carnivores through and through. … more

  • Abby loves it!

    By on

My Grandson's ferret, Abby, is a member of the family and she's also a very picky eater. She really seems to enjoy eating this food and that makes us happy. Chewy has it for a reasonable price and the delivery is always great. Thanks Chewy!

  • My ferrets love it!

    By on

I have 4 ferrets and they refuse to eat any other type of food! I was beyond excited to find this on Chewy because the cost is outrageous at pet stores. I got four times the product for a third of the price. Great food! Great price!

  • Corn is 3rd ingredient!

    By on

Ferrets only digest meat, no fruits or vegetables, and CORN IS THE 3RD INGREDIENT. You'll notice there is no ingredient list here, you have to look it up online because it Isn't healthy.

  • Great customer service

    By on

I have to give chewy 5 starts for great customer service, however, I can't give this food 5 stars because it's not good for ferrets. I have a stubborn rescue who is switching off of it to wysong.

  • Horrible Food

    By on

This food is not biologically appropriate for a ferret! Stores and vets push it because they are paid to. Ferrets are obligate carnivores. There is hardly any meat in this food. Please, if you are feeding this, switch to something else.

  • great product..great price!!

I recently moved to a VERY small town in the West where supplies are low and costs are high. I am excited to try chewy.com to help keep my furry friends happy and healthy. If this "pans out", I will be as loyal as the Grand Canyon is breath taking.
