Feeding Instructions

Ferrets of all ages should have food and fresh water available at all times.

Young Ferrets (6 - 11 weeks old): It is important at this age to sufficiently moisten the diet for your young ferret. Mix 3 parts warm fresh water to 1 part Marshall Diet (3:1 ration). Allow the mixture to sit for 3 - 5 minutes. Add more Marshall Diet or water until it reaches a wet oatmeal consistency. Keep some dry diet available at this age so your ferret will adjust to a completely dry diet by the time it is 12 - 13 weeks of age.

Adolescent and Adult ferrets (12 weeks and older): By now, your ferret should have converted to the dry diet. Keep fresh water and Marshal Diet available at all times.

  • Horrible Food

    By on

This food is not biologically appropriate for a ferret! Stores and vets push it because they are paid to. Ferrets are obligate carnivores. There is hardly any meat in this food. Please, if you are feeding this, switch to something else.

  • great product..great price!!

I recently moved to a VERY small town in the West where supplies are low and costs are high. I am excited to try chewy.com to help keep my furry friends happy and healthy. If this "pans out", I will be as loyal as the Grand Canyon is breath taking.

  • Happy ferrets

Gradually switched from our ferrets previous food to this food. Our ferrets are now eating this 100% of the time. All 4 ferrets seem to really enjoy it. There's never any left in bowl by the next feeding and it doesnt bother their digestive system, no diarrhea etc. Could be my imagination but their litter pan doesn't smell as bad either.

  • My opinion

    By on

My ferret loves this food and he's a picky eater so that says a lot and you get a good amount for the price ,and its a lot cheaper on chewy too i think it's like 30.00 at my local pet smart so you're saving money another thing i like is it arrives in two days so that's a plus

  • Great experience

I've had three ferrets for almost three years and have found this large 35 pound bag is the best way to go, but it can be hard to find at a good price. I got my first two bags from Amazon before the price went up $30 and stayed there. I then did Petco once before they discontinued selling this size at their store. I finally decided to Google shop the item to see where else I could find it, and lo and behold it brought me to Chewy, who had the best price, an extremely user friendly site, and super fast and free shipping. I ordered the bag in the middle of the week and got it by the weekend. I will definitely be a regular customer.

  • Ferret fav

    By on

I had read that there are ferret foods higher in protein I should use for my champagne male and dark sable female. I mixed slowly for the ferrets to get used to new food and they seemed to like it. After a few weeks of just new food I noticed my ferrets looked thinner. I had people tell me it’s because less fat more muscle but I didn’t like it. They now eat a mix of the two foods and are back to normal. They are Marshall ferrets and I guess they wanted what they started on!

  • Great Deal!

    By on

I ordered this on Saturday evening and it came to my house on Tuesday afternoon which was surprising in itself. I couldn't believe it was so quick. Secondly, for the price you pay at the store ($10 for 22 ounces) you get essentially 5 bags for the price of 2. It's the only way I'll buy food for my ferrets. I highly recommend buying it from Chewy!

  • Wally Loves It.

    By on

We Had Wally for over a year now and this is the only food he loves to eat. He even takes the pellet's one by one and stash them in his cage next to wear he sleeps. So he don't have to travel to his food bowl LOL He loves the taste and will put a lot of weight on your ferret
