I assumed by what I read that this was for all large breed dogs, but not for GSD, really disappointed.
Great comb for long haired dogs and cats. Combs through would be matts nicely. Does not pull the hair like other combs. I would recommend this comb if you have a long haired dog or cat.
I've had one of these for many years and use it on my Shelties. I love it! It works great where their hair is thicker or in areas that tend to tangle more easily. It does great at getting out tangles so you can "size down" to a medium or shedding comb as you continue to groom. It's less stressful for both my dog and me.
I have a “ small” long haired pup. This comb was too large to be used on her.
The teeth are 0.2 inches apart--and there are 21 of them--just over 5 inches of comb, and the very substantial handle is another 4 inches long. Overkill for my 23 lb. miniature Schnauzer, but I like his hair longer. This works great if used daily to manage "premature" mats. Cut off one star because size makes it a bit unwieldy for "underarm" areas.
I've had one of these for over a decade, and I use it all the time on my very thick double coated Australian Shepherds. It works out tangles, helps remove shedding undercoat, and has both a sturdy enough handle for some pressure, and long enough teeth to penetrate all the way to the skin level. It's also great at helping to remove cockleburs, sand spurs, and other annoying spikey plant seeds. Very effective - highly recommended.
Have had this comb since they first came out many years ago. I am a retired groomer and still use it regularly. Perfect for poodles of all sizes, retrievers, small breeds like coated shih tzu. My comb is still like new. Not even a loose tooth. Worked great on my Afghans coat also.
We have a standard poodle & one golden doodle and the comb worked great on both. We live rural and the dogs get into the brush and come out covered in briars, the comb takes them out with ease. It's well made also so we should have many years of service. Just don't leave it on the floor too long, the wooden handle can also be a great chew toy!!!
