Feeding Instructions

Feed to tortoise, along with plenty of fresh clean water. Tortoises will generally consume 1-4% of body weight per day, although food intake will vary due to environmental temperature, activity, and life stage. Provide a good quality forage such as grass or hay or browse. Fresh fruits and vegetables may be provided, but at no more than 20% of the total diet. Soaking the diet is not necessary but may help to acclimate tortoises to the diet.

Thoroughly wash feeding and watering bowls on a regular basis. It is always good practice to wash hands thoroughly after feeding and/or handling pets. This diet is not for human consumption

  • Unsure, still transitioning from fresh produce

While I'm unable to rate this item objectively yet, I only feel fair to go middle ground, I have had my pair of Russian Tortoises for just about a year, during that year, I have fed them a mixture of greens, carrots and green apples, all chopped. They have become accustomed, even spoiled with this refreshing mix of fresh produce, transitioning wont be easy, I've tried mixing the pellets with their original diet, they just pick the fresh ingredients out, I have since given them a mixture with a very small portion of fresh, and about 80% pellets, as with most animals, when faced with hunger, you eat whatever is available, so they are now eating more pellets as, its their only option, While I'm unable to rate this item objectively yet, I only feel fair to go middle ground, I have had my pair of Russian Tortoises for just about a year, during that year, I have fed them a mixture of greens, carrots and green apples, all chopped. • Best Tortoise Diet Out There

    By on

This is a great diet for torts! My Russian loves it. It took him a little while to adjust from the old Mazuri diet, but that was higher in starch and sugar, so it makes sense. This is lower starch / higher fiber, so it's much better. Just soaked in juice for the first week and he took to it fine.

  • Yes! Finally!

    By on

I've tried several different brands for my Sulcata but she would only eat the colorful ones. Since they just seemed like junk food I kept trying and finally found these. It only took her a couple days to get used to them and now she chooses them over her greens.

My year old sulcata loves these pellets although she prefers the bigger sized pellets these work! She was a picky little tort at first but wetting these with a bit of water did the trick (now she is hooked). Thankful that chewy has this product as i can't find it anywhere in my area.
