I wanted a long lead to start training my dog for off-leash. She's pretty strong so I wanted a rope rather than a flat one to hopefully help prevent blisters if she pulls. The rope is a little thinner and softer than I would've liked to hold easily when she's pulling, but it moves easily and is light so it doesn't weigh us down. There is no handle on the end, which surprised me, but it allows for me to change the lead length easily with slip knots or tie it around my waist for hands free. Pros and cons, but definitely would recommend if you're looking for a longer lead.
Nice lead for walking

I use a long lead when walking my Samoyed around the greenbelts and neighborhood so he can get far away from me and enjoy his exploring. Yet it gives me control when I need to bring him back closer. I did tie a fisherman's knot in the end to create a handle. Great product, but not water and dirt proof. I wash is after every morning walk in the dew.

Purchased this leash because I liked the length of it. Didn't want a real long one. Happy with the 20'.
Look good, but...

The brass clip's spring is kind of flimsy, though it hasn't fallen apart yet. The lead lasted about six months before the stitching that holds the leather and rope to the clip let go. It's an alright product, but it won't last forever.
doesn't have a grip

can't use it nothing to hold on to waste of money i tried to use it but it kept slipping out of my hands most leashes have a grip but this one doesn't its weird badly designed
Life saving lead

I would recommend this 20ft lead to any dog owner. My dog is a 65lb German Shepherd/Husky mix. She uses it along with her Guardian Gear Excursion Dog Harness (size Large) when we are out. She has pulled pretty hard and in my opinion should have snapped it, but its held strong. This lead has been a life saver.
I did have to tie my own handle, which was very easy to do.
Thanks for such a great product.
Love Mendota Products!!

Great long lead, perfect for recall training etc.
It is probably a bit too long for what I need but have no regrets purchasing it.
It comes in handy with needing to take the Danes out the front (not their normal run) to toilet in this horrible rain.
Nice check cord, would recommend for small/medium puppies

This leash is thin and only for puppies up to 50 lbs. I think this is great for recall training or retrieve training. I wish I had gotten the Pro-trainer check cord for larger dogs as mine is 75 lbs. But I have gotten use out of this with friends and client dogs. It is the nice quality I have grown to expect from the Mendota brand. It also doesn't seem to get tangled up and knotted as much as other check cords I have. I really like this. I wish the Pro-trainer thicker one came in 20 ft...Only complaint.
Not for small dogs

Nice product however I wanted this to be for my shih tzu for time at the lake. This is much too heavy for him, definitely for a medium sized pooch

I would not recommend this lead rope. It is to soft and I cannot have control on my dog. It gets tangled up in his legs. The rope is to small in width, therefore it is limp , making it difficult to control him.
