    No Such Luck

    By on

I bought this for my elderly cat who is on kitten food to put on weight. I like Merrick in general, so I thought this was the right price. The food did not smell good, beyond just 'cat food smells bad'. It smelled like cat food that had gone bad. She ate it and threw up almost immediately. Now she won't touch it. I feel bad writing a negative review because it may just be that her sensitive stomach didn't handle it well. It's entirely possible to have a completely different experience, but my girl didn't like it at all unfortunately :/

    Good size and quality

    By on

I got a kitten from a shelter that was thin, having digestive issues, and was on an all kibble diet when I got him. I introduced this to him, and I wasn't sure what to do because he was ravenously devouring it and I didn't want the shift to be to much for his system. So far, so good, and I love that they have the small cans so I don't have to store the extra; he just eats the whole can now. The smell is pleasant, and the texture is thick and rich- can even be mixed with water if your kitty prefers that, but the fact that the product is not too soft and watery out of the can speaks to its quality- the weight is not from water.

    Kitten won't touch this food...

    By on

I bought this wet food because my kitten absolutely loves the Merrick kitten dry food. Unfortunately, she wouldn't even touch this food. My friend had the same issue with this food and her kitten as well. Switching back to Purina ProPlan because that seems to be all she'll eat. Luckily, Chewy refunded me and I donated the remaining cans to a shelter!

    Picky kittens love it.

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

We adopted two kittens in September and they are extremely finicky. We have tried several different canned foods, some they picked at and others were rejected completely. They prefer a wetter food so I mix about a teaspoon of water in and they gobble it up. Will buy again.

    Not What I Expected

    By on

I knew this new kitten was picky as she'd rather eat adult food. I tried Merrick as it's highly rated. The first can she ate, the second not as much and now she goes back to adult so now its only Fancy Feast Kitten. I didn't like how much of the food stuck to the lid which is harder to open for me. I thought the food was on the drier side. I recommend Merrick because of its quality and high ratings but I won't buy it again. My adult walked away from it so my stray cats will enjoy this.

    Picky Kitten Approved

    By on

My kitten loves this wet food. When we rescued him at 3 months old he was on fancy feast for kittens and it actually contained milk, cat and kittens can't digest lactose and I thought this was insane they actually added milk to the kitten recipe! Merrick backcountry is now the only wet food he will eat and licks the bowl clean daily! His coat is shiny and he is healthy and active!

    Worth the Price

    By on

This food has made such a world of difference for my kitten. She is such a prissy little girl and wouldn't eat when I first got her. Changed her food and instantly she loved it. Her coat is super shiny and she's as energetic as ever. Feeding your pets a quality food makes such a difference! I trust Merrick as a brand after trying their food and reading their ingredients and will continue to feed all of my animals this brand.

    Kitten prefers regular Merrick

    By on

My kitten is fussy and I usually get her the regular Merrick Kitten pate but I thought the Backcountry one would be healthier for her. Hah she licks it and then goes and eats her dry food.

    Kittens like it

A good healthy kitten food that the kittens like. They digest it well. Good texture for introducing bottle babies to canned food
