No. None of Merrick Pet Care's recipes are being recalled.

What is the difference between Merrick grain-based and grain-free foods?

Some pets develop food intolerances or food allergies and grains can be difficult for a pet's stomach and intestines to break down. If your pet has a sensitive stomach, our Grain Free recipes can help their digestive system problems. At Merrick, our Grain Free recipes feature higher levels of proteins, omegas, glucosamine and chondroitin.

Do Merrick’s Grain Free recipes contain fillers and chemicals?

We are committed to using only the purest ingredients in our recipes. Our recipes contain no ingredients from China; no poultry by-products; no artificial additives or preservatives; no artificial flavors or colors; no corn, wheat or soy; and no glutens. We've excluded these ingredients because we believe pet food should be fuel, not filler.

My cat loves these pouches. She’s not crazy for the rabbit but if I mix it with the turkey she finishes it. She’s just not into lamb, rabbit or venison. I switched over to a different one that she doesn’t like as much so I’m going back to this one

  • Best wild flavor

    By on

My cat has rejected most other wet foods. She is an indoor/outside cat, and this must have a flavor similar to what she catches in the wild. She loves it!

  • A food topper that they ALL like!

    By on

Reviewing food really is kind of pointless since each individual pet is different in their tastes and preferences. Having four cats, each with different needs and tastes, anytime I find something that they will all eat I consider a win-win! Needless to say, they all like it. Chunks are a little large for my little girl so I need to cut it up for her,but she cleans her plate anytime this is added!

  • Cats devour it and great ingredients

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I literally have tried 50 or so types of cat food . Dry, caned, freeze dried and raw. Both my big 6 year old male cat and 14 year old female ate dry without complaint. My male had painful urinary problems with dry food . Dry was both cats favorite but I had to switch to wet. My elderly female would not eat the other foods I tried until I feed wet pouch food . It was a relief to find a food both loved . I was going crazy trying to feed two cats and a dog three different foods and stop the round robin of food sharing . Now the cats eat pouch food on my counter and the dog eats his dry on the floor and everyone is happy. Especially me!

  • Pretty good

    By on

My cat loves the gravy part but leaves most of the meaty bits behind. But I have that issue with any non-pate wet food. I supplement with Blue Buffalo dry food.

  • A meal they continue to eat

    By on

My feline family is so finicky! Anything new is a hit, so I buy a case of it. The next time most foods are offered they walk away. This Merrill back country meal in a pouch is different. My cats continue to like andenjoy this long after the initial tasting and it is now a permanent item in my autoship! It is quite expensive but what isn’t? If they eat it and it’s a better quality food i will continue to purchase it for them.

  • Loved the gravy, hated the chunks

    By on

Both of my orange tabby’s loved the gravy! But I think that the chunks were just a little too big, Colby Jack (my little piggy) would eat the majority of the meat but left the rest scatted on the floor *sigh * Cheddar (Mr picky) just licked up all the gravy lol

  • Great for cats with allergies

    By on

Our cat has allergies and can only eat limited ingredient rabbit and venison foods, which is very limiting, as you can imagine. Right now, he is liking this!

  • Tough little morsels

    By on

I bought these pouches to add some meat variety to my cat's diet. Kitty likes the taste, but the texture is too tough for my cat who is missing most of his teeth. I ended up mashing the morsels before feeding to make it easier to eat. Something to keep in mind if your little one can't handle tough food!
