Are any Merrick products currently being recalled?

No. None of Merrick Pet Care's recipes are being recalled.

What is the difference between Merrick grain-based and grain-free foods?

Some pets develop food intolerances or food allergies and grains can be difficult for a pet's stomach and intestines to break down. If your pet has a sensitive stomach, our Grain Free recipes can help their digestive system problems. At Merrick, our Grain Free recipes feature higher levels of proteins, omegas, glucosamine and chondroitin.

Do Merrick’s Grain Free recipes contain fillers and chemicals?

We are committed to using only the purest ingredients in our recipes. Our recipes contain no ingredients from China; no poultry by-products; no artificial additives or preservatives; no artificial flavors or colors; no corn, wheat or soy; and no glutens. We've excluded these ingredients because we believe pet food should be fuel, not filler.

    Cat loves it!

    By on

Wendell the Cat loves this stuff. Stevie likes it okay. What can I say? They are cats. They have differences of opinions just like the rest of us. But it's gratifying to watch Wendell scarf it down when he turns up his nose at so many other offerings.

    All five love this

My cats prefer seafood flavors, which concerns me because of mercury levels. So, I’m always looking for non fish flavors they will like. This was a hit with all of them, which is quite hard to achieve. Yay!

Great topper to get picky eaters started on kibble

    By on

I only gave 4 stars because to me its a bit expensive but it is a great topper with the meat bits and gravy. I can split the pouch up amongst a few cats that may not be too enticed by kibble. It has really helped with some of the pickier eaters that I have to gain a little weight.

    Cat lives for this food

    By on

I adopted a cat that was completely malnourished, had terrible dandruff, no fur on his ears, and he could hardly run or jump from muscle loss. I immediately transitioned him into a Merrick backcountry diet and this food has worked miracles on him! He’s been on it for 3 months now and he’s at a perfect weight, fur smooth as silk, all the fur grew back on his ears, absolutely no dandruff, and best of all he is able to run and jump as much as he wants without falling or losing his balance. He wakes me up every morning for this stuff and gets so excited when I pour it into his bowl! They should disclose that there is lamb mixed in and it is not pure rabbit, but other than that I love it and my cat I adopted a cat that was completely malnourished, had terrible dandruff, no fur on his ears, and he could hardly run or jump from muscle loss. 2 out of 3 like it

    By on

2 of my cats seem to like it but the 3rd one who normally eats everything won't touch it. I would not order it again as it's too much work to have different food for different cats.

this is the only food my picky cat will eat

    By on

Backcountry Grain-Free Morsels in Gravy rabbit and the chicken are literally the only 2 foods my cat will eat. Tried like 50 different foods. Only problem is they are expensive.

Praise be!! Something even my FUSSY cat likes

    By on

Out of 2700 different kinds of cat food- that I looked at . I found three that maybe my kitty would like and was able to eat. He can’t eat any chicken- seafood or beef and won’t eat pate. The food that he was currently eating ( and loved) was discontinued and I was at my wits end trying to find something that he would and could eat. So far he is loving this.

    Really pleased.

Two fussy and one really fussy Mainecoons. They are licking their bowls clean like kids liking their ice cream bowls to get every last drop. Really pleased with the results.
