    Frustration

    By on

I have 2 finicky cats and 1 that will eat anything. One of my finicky cats actually ate this food, but now I see all of the gums that are in the ingredient list, I can't give this to him consistently. The pet food industry is so frustrating that they promote a expensive, healthy food but then add questionable unhealthy ingredients.

    Not what I thought

    By on

This was not the product I thought. My cats like Merrick, but not this one. It is dry and my three won’t eat it unless I mix some moisture type food in it.

    Best chicken catfood

    By on

I went thru every chicken flavored cat food in Petco and Petsmart for my very picky fur babies. This is the only one they would eat more than once. They love it.

    Back Country Chicken

    By on

Our 3 cats LOVE this chicken canned food. It is their favorite chicken that Merrick makes. We have no problems getting them to eat every last bite or to lick the bowl clean.

Not the quality I’m looking for

    By on

My cat is going through a lot right now. She has Cushing disease, IBS and low pancreas enzymes. She is on hyper thyroid medicine, prednisone and enzyme powder so because of all this she has lost a lot of weight. She was down to 4.13 pounds so finding a high quality food is important. I was able to get her to 5 pounds and am hoping she gains more weight but this food has given her gas problems and is not something she enjoyed eating. They need to add some kind of gravy to it because it’s dry. If I wasn’t adding pouches to it she wouldn’t touch it. I’m not trying to bad mouth the company because I like the pouches but the cans aren’t for her

    The boys like it

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Our 2 cats prefer shredded or minced (they like texture) but, because Merrik is a good brand, and it had good amount of protein in it, we tried it. They BOTH eat and like it; Even the PICKY one. We have using this for over 4 months, and it's in their rotation (we give them a different meal every day to prevent them getting bored with their food). FYI (in case it helps reviewers): We have 2 male Savannah cats. Every month we get: Wellness Core (shredded chicken & turkey), Merrik Backcountry (real chicken pate), Merrick Purrfect Bistro Gourmet Shreds (Beef), Merrick Purrfect Bistro Gourmet Shreds (chicken), and Earthborn (chicken catcciatori).

    9 cats hate it

    By on

Not one of my 9 cats would even touch this food, had to throw away the one can I opened. Out of 9 cats if none would touch it, that’s pretty bad

    Our cats really like this

    By on

All 4 of our cats like the real chicken taste. There’s a lot packed into the can so one can feeds all four of our cats.
