What is the difference between Merrick grain-based and grain-free foods?

Some pets develop food intolerances or food allergies and grains can be difficult for a pet's stomach and intestines to break down. At Merrick, our Grain Free recipes feature higher levels of proteins, omegas, glucosamine and chondroitin.

Do Merrick’s Grain Free recipes contain fillers and chemicals?

We are committed to using only the purest ingredients in our recipes. Our recipes contain no ingredients from China; no poultry by-products; no artificial additives or preservatives; no artificial flavors or colors; no corn, wheat or soy; and no glutens. We've excluded these ingredients because we believe pet food should be fuel, not filler.

    Intresting mix

    By on

My 6th month old bengal is not to excited about this. The only thing he seeks out is the dehydrateed pellets and then nibbles a very little bit at the keeble through out the day. It may be due to his adult teeth coming in. I will add water to it to soften up but again not to into it. Plus I feel you cant let it sit after you water it down.

Good ingredients, not so good taste

    By on

Maybe it's because there are such tasty raw pieces in it, but once my girls ate the raw stuff they didn't want to eat the kibble. I wish there was maybe some more flavoring in it so they'd eat both!

Kitten refuses to eat this food!

    By on

I bought a 6 pound bag of this food thinking it she would think it was delicious, but was surprised to see that she refused to eat it. I tried to get her to eat this food, and finally found that if I water it down she will eat some of it. I would not recommend purchasing this food!

    Absolutely Worth It

    By on

When we rescued our kitten at 4 months old we transitioned him to Merrick back county both wet and dry kitten formula. My kitten loves both the wet latte and dry kibble. He picks out all of the freeze dry pieces. We also use their treats which he loves as he tries to eat two or three in one bite! His coat is shiny, he is very healthy and active! For the price and quality this is totally worth it!
