Divide the total per day by the total number of times you feed your puppy per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Every puppy is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use the information in the chart as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed.
Dry and wet food in combination will help increase the level of water in your dog's diet. If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/2 cup for every 6 oz of wet food.
When switching your dog's diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5-7 day period.

I didn’t like this :(
By Korra on Feb 7, 2021
Hey guys, I’m an Aussie mix and my paw rents got this for me after doing research on puppy food with healthy grains. I appreciate their efforts in feeding me with good stuff but I didn’t like the taste of this at all! It made my tummy hurt and it was difficult for me to go potty. It was pretty awkward bc I didn’t know how to get the message across to my pawrents. Finally my Vet advised my mom to feed me a different brand. She did and now my tummy feels much better! I’ll try merrick one more time when I’m no longer a puppy but for now, this isn’t the brand for me.

KIBBLE TOO SMALL FOR LARGE BREED
By sweetsummertime on Feb 21, 2021
I have an 87 lb 8 month old golden retriever the kibbles are so small it all ends up all on the floor. with such a high price and ridiculously small 12 lb bags its not worth buying. The ingredients seem good but my dog wont eat it unless I put a sweet potato , chicken or egg it and even then he tries to pick it out. If this is supposed to include large breed dogs why are the kibbles so small and the bags so small?

Just Beware
By toycha on Jan 12, 2021
I used this as a transition food. My pup ate it however afterward she started to have problems. My pup started to have loose movements and often. I had to move her back to original food. I have heard good things about the Merrick Puppy food but just gave my puppy issues.

I always trust Merricks
By MacandOlive on Dec 27, 2020
I’ve trusted Merricks for years and my vet recommended a grain inclusive food for my new standard poodle puppy. I was happy to learn Merricks had introduced a grain inclusive food for puppies! She seems to really enjoy the food and is a happy, healthy girl!

Ingredients
By Junklover on Oct 16, 2020
I have done quite a bit of research after our dog had been on a grain free dog food for quite some time. I have learned that the first 4-5 ingredients are important. Without going in to a long story, I decided to feed a grain inclusive kibble to our new puppy. I settled on Merrick because of the ingredients listed and the order in which they were listed on the package from Chewy website. When the kibble came it is not the same ingredients nor listed in the same order. Very disappointed in Merrick. If it had come as advertised I’m sure I would have given it a 5 star.

A Huge Yes for Us
By Melissa on Sep 27, 2020
Our 9 week old, 2lb maltipoo LOVES this food! We even give it to him for training treats! The kibble is extra small, which is perfect for our little guy. I also love that Merrick does not use ingredients not meant for dogs. No meat by products, nor fillers. I did SO much research on dog food and this was the one I felt most confident in my dog eating! I choose the classic version over grain free because I choose not to have food filled with potatoes, peas, and lentils. Our puppy has shown no sign of an allergy to grains (which is not common in dogs anyway). VERY happy and love this puppy food! Only thing I wish is that the bag was resealable. But definitely not a dealbreaker as we are getting Our 9 week old, 2lb maltipoo LOVES this food! We even give it to him for training treats! Very good price for this dog food. My mother's pup loves it, so will be his regular diet. We will order it again when needed.

Vet was not a fan
By Lupo on Dec 29, 2020
Unfortunately our vet recommended to get off this food. Not sure why, but she was not a fan of Merrick. We went for Purina Pro Plan instead.

Wish puppy liked it as much as I do.
By JennyC on Jun 30, 2020
We adopted a quarantine puppy. Great Pyrenees/Aussie Shepard mix. We have tried 5 different foods with her. The shelter told us she was being fed an expensive boutique food so bought a huge bag of it to find out she hates it. So...Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild, and numerous soft food have been tried. She tolerates this one the most. I put 2 cups (30lbs at 20wks) in her bowl every morning. She will eat it throughout the day but doesn't scarf it down. I mix some into what I call Lucy food (2lbs ground beef, brown rice, pea and carrot mix that she gets a scoop of everynight) and she will leave pieces of kibble in the bottom of the bowl. She sometimes will eat all 2 cups of kibble but most times there's 1/2 cup left every morning. Also, the kibble is so small that she takes a mouthful then chokes on it and spits it out on my carpet. I also didn't realize this is a Purina product. So from that aspect I seriously feel this is overpriced. I bought into the commercial hype and bought this thinking it was best quality but upon researching found that the quality has seriously deteriorated since Purina took over. … more
