Feeding Instructions

Using the chart below, divide the total cups per day by the total number of times you feed your dog per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size, and activity level. Please use the information below as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed.

Puppies and pregnant or nursing females may consume two to three times the recommended daily amounts. Dry and wet food in combination will help to increase the level of water in your dog’s diet. If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/2 cup for every 6 oz. wet.

  • Great Food!

    By on

Started my GSD puppy on Merrick in February. Switched him and my adult Golden Retriever to this when he was 7 months old. The golden was eating Blue and switched without even weaning her off slowly. They are healthy and happy. To the above comment that gave one star, large breed food is formulated for larger dogs and their requirements. Kibble size is not what it means.

  • A Growing Baby

It was nice to have this at my front door. Rather than to drive far way to purchase and pick up this heavy bag by myself.

  • Glucosamine

    By on

This formula works for our huskies! Lots of glucosamine for their active hips and good for sensitive stomachs. Their meals are 2/3 canned food to maintain a high protein (and low potato / legume) diet and 1/3 dry for the vitamins and crunch that dry food provides. The kibble size is the same as other Merrick dry foods, it's the formula that's geared towards larger or active breeds that makes it different.
