About Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food

The Limited Ingredient Diet That's More Limited

The Limited Ingredient Diet That's More Limited

When you have a sensitive pup, finding the right food can be tricky. That's why Merrick made a limited ingredient diet with the fewest possible ingredients—less than other natural L.I.D foods on the market. Each meal is free of grains, corn, soy, dairy and eggs, plus made with a single-source animal protein. It's the nutrition you'd expect from Merrick, but with carefully selected ingredients.

8 Key Ingredients

In each bowl of Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet, your best bud will get the nutrition she needs from the most essential ingredients—eight of them, to be specific. Every recipe is made with only eight key ingredients, plus vitamins and minerals, to give your dog the optimal nutrition she deserves while avoiding common allergens.

8 Key Ingredients

Single Protein, Optimal Nutrition

Merrick Limited Ingredient Diet formulas keep it naturally simple with a single source of deboned animal protein—so every meal is easier to digest. Choose between savory recipes like salmon, turkey, lamb, chicken or duck. And when Merrick says lamb, they mean lamb—so you can avoid the proteins that upset your pup's tummy. It's more of what your pet needs and less of what they don’t.

Grain Free and Potato Free for Sensitive Pets

Merrick sticks to what's important and leaves out those unnecessary ingredients many dogs are sensitive to—like grains, potatoes, corn, soy, dairy and eggs. Instead, they pack their recipes with meaningful carbohydrates that support healthy digestion, plus a range of important vitamins, minerals and fatty acids needed to support the overall well-being of your best friend.

Grain Free and Potato Free for Sensitive Pets

The Makings of a Meal Fit for Your Best Friend

Lentils: An excellent source of protein, zinc, iron and fiber—plus, they offer additional protein for healthy lean muscle.

Peas: Contains twice the protein of most vegetables, and is a good source of vitamins A, C and some B-complex vitamins.

Organic Alfalfa: Rich source of calcium and serves as a good source of fiber, vitamins and carotene.

Yucca Schidigera Extract: Supplies good quantities of iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium and silicon, and is thought to reduce stool and urine odors.

About Merrick

Merrick believes whole foods not only taste better, but are better for your pet, and handmade recipes are much better than scientific formulas. That's why Merrick's been making pet food in their own kitchen for more than 25 years. Produced in small batches, each recipe is closely monitored to ensure it delivers the perfect balance of nutrients guaranteed right on the label. Merrick makes food to be fuel, not filler, and their wide variety of protein-rich dry and canned foods and treats means your pet will enjoy every second of his meal.

My 4 dogs LOVE this food. I use it as a mix-in with their dry food. My dogs are picky eaters, and 2 have skin finding the right food was important! Since using Merrick limited ingredient grain free Duck, combined with another brand of dry kibble, the skin issues have been resolved as well

    Dogs love it!

    By on

My three dogs love this food so I add a couple of tablespoons to their food every meal. The only drawback that I have run into is one of my dogs has liver disease and duck is not particularly good for that issue.

Promising but not a winner for this pooch

    By on

This fit my dog's requirements. It smells good, but he eats it reluctantly. I put freeze-dried toppings to entice him, and he eats the toppings. If he is starving, he'll eat it.

Limited Duck Paté Style Dog Food

    By on

I bought this flavor for my 3 dogs ~ Lab, Shepherd, Husky mix; Beagle mix; Smooth Chihuahua. I figured it would be a safe choice, since all 3 can eat the dry kibble version. Well, my Smooth Chihuahua vomited, when she ate it. I use it as a topping on their kibble, so I'm still feeding it to my other dogs.

Dog loves the Merrick food, but only received 3 of the 4 cases ordered with no explanation of the missing case (nothing showed back ordered). Had to have a special shipment to fulfill the order.

    Great food

    By on

My little Morkie is 5 years old, and has been on many wet and dry. Just about the time I think I have conquered her skin and stomach issues, she begins to refuse the food that originally kept her happy. I talked with our landscaper, and he mentioned Merrick. I knew nothing about it, however he assured me that he had thoroughly researched it. What a surprise she loves it. thanks

    My dogs love the taste!

    By on

Both my dogs (Belgium Malinois & Pointy ears mix)love this food. My pointy eared dog is really picky and I use a little bit of wet food mixed with her dry food to get her to eat her dry food. She has always been like this. I bought a can of this to see if she would like it and I couldn't believe how fast she ate her food. I now buy this by the case. My Malinois will eat anything that is not nailed down so of course she loves this food too.

    Ibd mastiff

    By on

My mastiffs digestive system will only tolerate this food. He has ibd and after multiple tests, food and vet visits, he is finally doing well on this canned food, prilosec and metronidazole. I've even tried less expensive duck food but it doesn't work. Not sure what is different about this food but any other food makes him sick. We've even tried hydrolyzed but he didn't like it. His body also won't tolerate kibble just this brand and type of canned food. I'm a fan.
